Google’s emissions are up 48% in 5 years. Microsoft’s are up 30% since 2020. Those soaring figures are being driven by mass investments in data centers to power AI tools. Generative AI is a climate disaster and data center expansion must be stopped.

Consider this your reminder to watch Scavengers Reign on Netflix and juice the fuck outta its numbers and convince whoever needs convincing that there’s a place for amazing, adult-audience animation in the world. Thank u.

"What, to the American slave, is your 4th of July? I answer; a day that reveals to him the gross injustice and cruelty to which he is the constant victim. To him, your celebration is a sham... your prayers and hymns, your sermons and thanksgivings ... are, to Him, mere bombast, fraud, deception..."

This is so important because the fascists are depending on us to be cynical and hopeless. It is literally part of their strategy.
The Court ruling today is terrible but expected. I will just gently remind everyone that the election hasn’t happened yet. We shouldn’t assume the worst outcome as a foregone conclusion. That only encourages more apathy than many are already feeling.

If Biden loses in Nov, well, that’s a disaster for everybody, but not especially for Joe Biden, he’ll be okay (unless revenge indictments start flying) but if Trump loses, that’s 100% absolutely a massive catastrophic personal tragedy for him, and I really hope you all join me in making that happen
An underrated possible future is that in a few months time Donald Trump loses the election and then spends the rest of his life in court and in jail for his many crimes. Like, this could definitely be how things go

Keep saying it loud and often: generative "AI" is not intelligent, it is riddled with inescapable errors, it is structurally incapable of ever doing half the things its hypers claim it will do, most of it is snake oil in search of a mark to scam, and it's environmentally destructive to boot.

It’s fun that while every non white judge has to face a gauntlet of racist insults regarding their qualifications fed society stooges are practically having their opinions written for them by lobbyists www.huffpost.com/entry/judges...

Biden’s climate policies have created a clean energy boom. The Inflation Reduction Act and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law are huge climate wins. They will double the clean electricity we have by 2030, & kids will breathe easier. Thats great, let’s do more. www.nytimes.com/2024/05/23/c...
The Biden Clean Energy Boomwww.nytimes.com The president’s signature 2022 climate law has sparked a rapid clean energy boom but its political impact is a lot less clear.

It’s so weird that the authors of the 14th amendment banned racial discrimination *and* insurrectionists holding high office. Almost as though those issues were somehow linked.
Important to remember that it's not that these 6 justices have a different method, it's that they're full of it. The 14th and 15th amendments were passed to ban racial discrimination, and they explicitly authorize the Voting Rights Act. All were intended to block racial discrimination in the South.

Led by Justice Alito, SCOTUS again takes over fact-finding.They simply will not defer to findings of a trial court that favor Black claimants in civil rts cases, women’s groups in abortion cases, or parties opposing state entanglement w/religion. They’ll either remake the law or redo the facts.

Reminds me of the times in my life that I’ve shared something I’ve created and someone says “you should sell these!” I know it’s meant well, and I take it as a compliment, but it makes me a bit sad that our society has built up this idea that our creations are as good as they are marketable.
I hate how capitalism has succeeded in convincing us that pleasure is derived from consumption instead of creativity, which is truly fulfilling and doesn't require suffering but growth. I hate how creativity is only ever encouraged as long as it's going to make profit for capitalists.
