We need more, but credit where due: both The Nation (June 2024 issue) and Boston Review have run a breakdown of the Project 2025 “Mandate for Leadership” document. Media Matters, too. Lots of good work going on digesting this. www.bostonreview.net/articles/ins... www.mediamatters.org/project-2025
The Blueprintprospect.org The far right has a plan to remake America. They even wrote it down.

This is super important work. And it looks like it's actually having an effect. Normal people learn about Project 2025 and are scared as shitless as they should be. The Nation, The New Republic, Rolling Stone, Boston Review and others are doing the work that NYT and WaPo are neglecting.

I will bang this drum forever: in THEY THOUGHT THEY WERE FREE: THE GERMANS, 1933-45 Milton Mayer interviewed 10 ordinary Germans after WW2 to learn how fascism took hold. There was never a moment when everyone woke up:
if you’re waiting for everyone around you to wake up, you’ll wait forever. this is how the people grinding our bones to make their bread WANT you to be. paralyzed, alienated & purposeless

I really don’t think most people realize just how hard the boot will come down if Trump and the Republicans win the election. Most people have never experienced the totalitarian surveillance state with the power to reach into their homes and minds at will they are telling us is their plan.

Trump said “I know nothing about Project 2025. I have no idea who is behind it.” But Project 2025 is run by Trump's closest aides, raising concerns about cognitive fitness for a candidate who seems unable to recall those around him. donmoynihan.substack.com/p/troubling-...

Where are the columnists who are experts in specific fields, breaking down what the Heritage Foundation + Trump want to do to each individual federal agency? E.g. I read the section dedicated to our intelligence agencies, and had to stop, since I was starting to feel a little nauseous.

Elon makes the final Nazi leap from "free speech!" to "the state will now execute you for your opinion"
I think this is the first time Musk has suggested fellow Americans should be executed.

Kavanaugh was confirmed to the Supreme Court in October 2018, creating the conservative majority. It took them less than six years to demolish the Constitution to make way for a king. Conservatives can't be trusted with power. Ever.

Yep. One of the biggest blind spots people have is assuming that underneath, others share the same basic values as them. They have trouble imagining an ideology that is completely misaligned with theirs.

Elon Musk is a slut who has impregnated like five women he's not married to but I never hear conservatives scold him for attacking traditional marriage or families.

Question: if Biden drops out of the race, what happens to his war chest? Can it be transferred to Harris or to another candidate? Or does the money just disappear and the new candidate has to start from scratch?

A few years ago, Jon Lovett floated a theory that media treats Democrats like protagonists - to be challenged, accounted, and forced to be behave in growth-oriented ways - while the GOP are treated like antagonists - immutable, expected to disrupt, thematic obstacles. Thinking about that a lot.
I don’t recall the NYT calling for Trump to step down after being convicted of 34 counts of fraud and being called by a judge at his civil trial a rapist in the common person sense

I'mma say this for all the people in the back. Don't vote for a person. Vote for your rights, for the rights of others. On page 5 of Project 2025's 180-day plan they openly call for outlawing porn, recommending imprisoning anyone who creates it. Are you an NSFW artist, or like the art? THIS IS YOU.

Calling for Biden to drop out, but not Trump, sure sounds like the kind of thing a fundamentally Trumpist newspaper would do. As usual, the Times is confusing only if you buy their branding as centrist or left-leaning.
If the Times was in the business of calling for people to do things it would be forgivable, but to adopt a cautious approach through Trump, Thomas, Alito, etc., only to lose your mind now…

Donald Trump cannot answer straightforward questions about anything. He can’t answer them from regular people; he can’t answer them on a debate stage, and he can’t answer them under oath — at least if he doesn’t want a perjury charge. And he’s not the answer for this country or this election.

I used to say that "A conservative is someone who sees a homeless person begging and thinks 'I'm not like them because I worked harder in life'. A liberal says 'If things went differently in my life, that could be me.'" Empathy gap
fundamentally, at the core of conservatism is an empathy gap they might, in the abstract, know how things work - but it isn't real unless it happens to them, at which point it becomes an outrage they don't think other people are real, not the way they are

You don't have to hand it to a single founding American father. They were all evil. To the core. They are not you, your friend, or your granddad. You can still find them interesting, in the way that beetles are, for example. Although beetles aren't evil.

We're in the middle of a single extended coup attempt. Trumpists coming for our freedom again. They must be crushed
just a heads up for those of you who don’t watch Fox News. Greg Gutfeld has said two days in a row that Americans won't accept the results of the election if Biden wins. Fox News as a whole has been pushing this for weeks Trump going to try to declare victory even if he loses the the 2024 election
