Yet again, we see the loudest yelps of “1776 BAYBEE!!!” from Christian Patriots who don’t know the first fucking thing about the history of the country over which they claim to have exclusive ownership. 2 out of 8 ain’t bad, I guess.

Way back in the early 2010s I created a tumblr page devoted to fake quotes from the founders. One pattern I found is that the people most likely to circulate fake founders quotes are the people who call themselves conservative *originalists.* www.tumblr.com/fakefounders...
Nearly Every Founding Fathers' Quote Shared By A Likely Future Congressman Is Fakewww.tumblr.com Georgia's likely, future Congressman appears to be the Michael Jordan of Fake Founders Quotes.  Looks like this tumblr will have reason to exist for at least a few more years.

It’s very possible that trolls like MTG and Jesse Kelly intentionally post stupid stuff like this to get negative attention from the libs. But even if that’s true, they’re still ignorant fascists.
Avatar
I think this is the case with Jesse Kelly. It's easy for him to do because he truly is a hamheaded ignoramus.
Avatar
That's also a perfect description of MTG!
Avatar
Kelly for sure, and he’s no doubt convinced himself you can’t be an actual fool if you’re pretending to be one

The French have no word for entrepreneur.
Avatar
THAT EXPLAINS SO MUCH ABOUT THOSE DAMN PEOPLE!!!
Avatar
I once observed to my French neighbor that they have words for both entrepreneur and bureaucrat, and it blew her mind. (I love France! And we would not be the USA if not for France!)
Avatar
The French word for paper clip is trombone

But the PLINTH, tho, the plinth is AMERICAN.

Part of me just screamed ‘it was given to us by the French, you Goddammed nincompoop!!’

This isn’t aimed at you btw.

They thought that George Washington's sore throat would be fixed by bleeding him with bugs so much that he died. We shouldn't give a shit what any of those old dead fucks thought about anything, and we CERTAINLY shouldn't ever do what they thought about government.

Conservatives, so desperate to justify their 95% illegitimate policies and political beliefs, they’ll turn to any source that provides some justification. For example: Indiscriminately killing people reduces the earth’s population. See, it’s a good idea. Faux News, 100% bad ideas, loved by the GQP.

Did you ever look into the mirror image practice of the fake Hitler quote? (Fake Hitler says something that sounds like a Democrat; therefore Democrats are like Hitler)

Paul Revere? lol of all people, just the guy who was around, horse ride guy
Avatar
This is just a list of all the historical people she knows
Avatar
And yet she somehow forgot Johnny Tremain

Avatar
Just imagining some member of the Continental Congress leaning out a window and shouting at anyone who passed by and a very perplexed Revere being one of them. "YOU THERE, SIR! WOULD YOU LIKE TO SIGN A DOCUMENT?!"
Avatar
Revere was reasonably important for the Sons of Liberty. But he wasn't a money guy like Hancock, or an intellectual leader like one of the Adams cousins. I think the Longfellow poem is what made him famous. After all, does anybody know who William Dawes is?
Avatar
Ridin cross the land kickin up sand
Avatar
Some staffer thought they were so clever by just looking up birth year of dudes from history and subtracting from 1776 lol
Avatar
Lots of people don't notice it but Paul Revere did actually sign.
Avatar
Avatar
I would bet any amount of money that she copy-pasted this from Google’s AI (or some equally inept AI). A list of signers “under 35” in which a couple are listed as over 40 is a dead giveaway.
Avatar
I'm... also not sure I would go about including Aaron Burr on that list if you're trying to make a point of some kind
Avatar
LOL Maybe she didn’t see the play.

Gotta say I dashed back to the other place to see that tweet in its natural habitat, and I was like oh my dear lord.
Avatar
The ignorance offends me slightly less than the prideful confidence in their ignorance.
Yeah, her unearned confidence is annoying and outrageous. What bothers me most, however, is that she's not at all deterred or dismayed at having been proven ignorant. She has never and will never stop herself and ask, "am I wrong, and if so, how did that happen and how can I learn from this?"
Avatar
Is it ok to also note here that they didn’t sign the Declaration of Independence on July 4? They voted to approve it, but the signing took place in August.
Avatar
And the actual vote to declare independence was on July 2.
Avatar
Yes! John Adams was the first American to scream, “I feel like I’m taking crazy pills!”
Avatar
It was when Richard Henry Lee’s resolution of a month earlier was adopted.
Avatar
Or as Murdery Traitor Greene knows him, “Bruce” Lee.
Avatar
His letter to Abigail said something like "July Second will be celebrated for generations with bonfires and parades" etc.

Monroe signing a major historical document at 18: Wow, how'd they pull him away from playing video games?!?

Avatar
I heard that blonde butch built bad body signed the gazpacho papers in the wuhan lab.

Well, somebody had to, because of the adrenochrome crisis, and all.

If we go by the ages in her tweet she's ID'ing a bunch who don't meet her age criterion. Is this like Ted Cruz suggesting that hummus is an American food?
Avatar
Avatar
Did she get this history lesson from ChatGPT?
Avatar
It’s too bad they couldn’t look at the document to see who actually signed it. Only the most famous signature page in modern history.
