It's really wild to me how many people think Biden had something to do with Roe being repealed because they don't understand the Supreme Court. Which is sort of fair, because the Supreme Court makes absolutely no sense as it's presently organized -- but still.

It’s really hard to believe Trump has gotten more popular since 2016.

Against all odds, being on Bluesky, unlike other social media landscapes, has given me some measure of peace and a feeling of belonging. How about that?

WE should keep talking about this forever until we are blue in the face and Biden and the rest of the Democrats have no choice but to talk about it, too. If we have to save them from themselves, fine. Let's do that.

This is one of the most dystopian signs I've ever seen. Republicans are quickly turning this country into an unrecognizable freakshow.

Been framing the crisis in our political system like this with my students: if Trump prevails, autocracy prevails, and it's only a question of how bad it will get.

I know it won't convince the crazies but it's pretty important to make clear to people that if they enjoy being able to criticize the president (even the one they voted for) they'd better not vote for Trump in the fall.

The Court ruling today is terrible but expected. I will just gently remind everyone that the election hasn’t happened yet. We shouldn’t assume the worst outcome as a foregone conclusion. That only encourages more apathy than many are already feeling.

I'm not even joking; let's all just start ignoring what the Supreme Court says. It's like Freddy Krueger in that way: Its power comes directly from how much we believe in it.

There’s no way to argue this wasn’t wildly racist. It’s such a clear example of Trump’s default racism. He doesn’t even understand what was wrong with what he said. How can a person like that be president?

the awkward thing is that functional capitalism is more or less inseparable from representative democracy. capitalism requires markets, legally binding contracts, and a functional judicial system to work best. this is a real reason why capitalism is different from colonialism and mercantilism, etc
