Kind of ironic that TikTok is where legitimate discussion of Project 2025 is happening while the New York Times is where you go for weird screeching bullshit

That we are even having a debate about whether Biden is “fit enough” when this & many more horrors are the other option. Like maybe put out the fire first and then worry about whether you like your sofa AFTER.

Did you know that USGS has this incredible archive of bee photos (and other insects but we're paying attention to bees) on Flickr. And since they are government photos they are under a creative commons license! www.flickr.com/photos/usgsb...

Great thread. We have / already doing so much awful, and it’s relatively easy to scale that up as we’ve seen. And there’s so much that many of us don’t see that currently happens.
First of all, there isn't one immigration system, there are lots of small ones. County sheriffs will be empowered to detain, question, and arrest people they suspect are non-citizens. They will set up roadblocks and stop people to and from work. (They have already done this!)

One thing we know now about the mass deportations, the abortion bans, and the executive crimes, which was less clear in 2016, is SCOTUS won't stand in the way.

I've seen a lot of one-offs of people holding these signs, but what is truly chilling is a sea of these being held up by delegates.
In case you missed it this was one of the official signs handed out by the RNC for delegates to wave. Not a joke, not a.i.

Psst: Project 2025 is terrifying for a lot of reasons but also because on page 5 it calls for teachers and librarians who grant access to books that are maligned as pornography (which just means anything LGBTQ) to be registered as sex offenders. Pass it on.

More from WIRED: Armed militias in the US are using Facebook to recruit in the wake of the weekend's events, despite Meta claiming to ban this activity. Meta did not respond to a request for comment.

Institutions work until they don’t. It’s banal but true. Courts as institutions worked when Trump tried to steal the election, but FedSoc has been chipping away at them for decades, and I think it is very rational to doubt they will work any more to restrain an executive.
WSJ this morning. lol at the last bit. "Leaders on both sides need to stop describing the stakes of the election in apocalyptic terms. Democracy won't end if one or the other candidate is elected. Fascism is not aborning if Mr. Trump wins, unless you have little faith in American institutions."

All the calls for “everyone” to “cool down the rhetoric” etc feel like how families so often put the burden of keeping the peace on the family members who are already working hardest at that, since the difficult/abusive folks are unfixable/cannot be reasoned with.
