2 of the top 3 candidates for the US presidency have shown a repeated willingness to believe any conspiracy dangled in front of them like a set of keys, including wildly anti-american ones, which are straightforward cognitive deficiencies for what we should demand in a president. neither are biden.

Imagine if an inexplicably wealthy 11 year old boy had just learned to draw the “cool S” and then assembled a team of engineers and told them “you have an essentially unlimited budget to make this into a car somehow.” That’s the feeling you get when you first spot a Cybertruck in the wild.

“Disagree as much as you like about the issues, but prejudice, bullying, name-calling, threats of violence and obvious lies are forbidden” are excellent ground rules for a debate in theory but what to do if prejudice, bullying, name-calling, threats of violence and obvious lies are a party platform?

Classic American political dialogue is premised on the idea that we share fundamental values but disagree on how best to promote them. I haven’t believed this for a while. Other than “I prefer to be alive and not dead” and “I like pudding,” I do not share values with these people.

I always kind of thought it would be *easier* to launch a viable competitor to Omaha Steaks than it would be to transform the US into a functional autocracy but I guess I have a lot to learn about politics and/or business
