"Israel can't reoccupy Gaza" well it already has. "Israel can't annex the West Bank" already did that too. "Israel can't deprive Palestinians of citizenship if they control their day to day lives" sure they can, who will stop them? The US will not, the US is fine with all of it. Biden certainly is.

I agree that Harris has significant weaknesses as a politician but this is an incredibly ugly way to put it. Also: A centrist candidate choosing another centrist as his running mate — still not the left's fault! Leftists hate Harris, that's actually one of her weaknesses.

I don't know if I'd call my "support" for Kamala Harris ironic or unironic. What I support is the Democratic party following its self-preservation instincts against threats other than those on its left, and fighting as though the stakes are as high as they claim they are.

It's hard to even imagine the limits of the power that SCOTUS has just handed the president. If you can keep 34 senators and the military on your side, you can do anything.

The really bitter irony here is that SCOTUS is making the president a king while a Democrat is president. They aren't worried about it because they know Democrats won't accept Biden actually acting the way they are saying he can.

The problem of course here is that Joe Biden is believer in an idea of "the system" rather than in the system itself, which has just given him the power to do legally what he'd consider out of bounds. It's the difference between institutionalism as ideology rather than institutional practice.
