Like a few replies point out, Gorsuch's mother was the director of the EPA under Reagan. While that doesnt mean he is a know-it-all by genetics or by osmosis, he should know enough to not confuse two gases. Plus, he has clerks. Imagine how smart and qualified people can look when they have clerks?

They don't care about the difference between nitrous oxide and nitrogen oxide because they have non intention of ruling on the basis of scientific data and statistically grounded scientific arguments. Simple really.
