You are definitely those things. I value your views here and I am looking forward to reading your books and encouraging my children to as well - only discovered you recently so haven't got them both yet!

Part of that is in most other countries there'd be serious questions about where he got hold of a firearm and ammo, and how he got that close. When the answers are "gun store", "idk probably a vending machine", and "well it definitely wasn't /our/ agents who let him in" it starts to unravel

Racism isn’t an historical event either, which I think has been missed in my responses. As a cisgender Black woman who wants children, it is very possible racism will kill me, or them at birth. Diversity programs are being disbanded; our history is being erased. Racism is killing us *now.*

I can’t believe I have to say this: But white people can be anti-Black even if they have the right politics or a marginalized identity, and no amount of either makes racism ok. I am not going to waver on that. Maybe ask why anyone would want me to.

Two months ago Greg Abbott pardoned a murderer who texted a friend "I might go to Dallas to shoot looters" then drove into a BLM protest in Austin and killed a protester. The universal response from conservatives to the pardon was "Yeah! Woo-hoo!" Now they say liberals should turn down the rhetoric

Wow: “If you grow an acre of corn, it will produce 900 gallons of ethanol, which will get you about 25,000 miles for a Ford F-150...which is, not bad I guess. But let’s say we put solar on that same acre. It will produce enough electricity every year to drive my Lightning 550,000 miles.”

< clears throat I created my own degree in this very question in ye olde year of our livejournal 2005 because new york university didn't have a digital journalism program at that time journalism has never been a professional endeavor and to the extent it was, it was a problem
I actually disagree. The professionalization of journalism USED to be a bulwark against random assholes showing up, doing interviews, and styling their "content" as "journalism," when it is largely opinion and bias. This bulwark was weakened with the rise of the blogosphere which enabled the above.

I think the guy I met was involved with the "emerging MIDI transcription software" she mentions, if that was the mid 90s I would have been about 12-14, so the specifics are somewhat hazy. I think he also had some "Rachmaninoff plays Rachmaninoff" - super cool
