THE sentence of the day: A Macronist incumbent in the Marseille region came in 3rd in her seat. She just dropped out to support the left. She said, about why she's maneuvering to block the far-right: "Defeats happen, but you can never recover from dishonor."

In the unlikely chance that Marvel and Archie ever do crossovers again, may I suggest the obvious pairing of contemporaries Doctor Doom and Mad Doctor Doom?

Yesterday, I shared this same Canada Day thread on Bluesky, Threads, and X. Here's what I found. 🧵
“Canada is such a northern country, don’t we want a little global warming?” I often hear. In a nutshell, NO. We’re warming 2x faster than the rest of the world, driving extreme heat, flood, and sea level rise we are not prepared for. The wildfire season started in Feb this year. Feb! #canadaday

Fun fact: @ryanestrada.com ‘s “Banned Book Club,” which I proudly publish, keeps being challenged in libraries for being “pornograhic.” There is zero sex or sexual suggestion in the title. The censors are just shrieking The Magic Word and hoping it gets them what they want. This is what they do.
and even if someone thinks "well I don't like/look at porn so why should it be a priority for me?" it's important to remember that when christofascists say "porn" they also mean age-appropriate comprehensive sex education, media with queer/trans people in it, and picture books about gay penguins.

Just FYI we’re entering a summer Covid wave right now (especially western regions in the US); you can see it in the CDC wastewater plot here (and anecdotally a bunch of my friends are suddenly testing positive). www.cdc.gov/nwss/rv/COVI...

Sure, but also let's force everyone back into crowded offices, enact legislation to ban masks and face coverings, and fail to ensure effective ventilation in schools.

I wrote to the Tractor Supply board today. Here is what I sent. Even if you've only ever bought one thing there, I encourage you to write, as a customer.
Fuck. This one's going to sting, but add another company to our boycott list. x.com/TractorSuppl...

Colour holds - replacing black line art with other colours - are more common now but much rarer to see in golden age comics (presumably because of production limitations and the extra work involved). Put to use very well in early Shadow stories though as a nod to his ability to cloud people's minds.

Re: the Jim Lee thing. My opinion is that creatives can charge whatever they goddamn want for a commission or autograph or a sketch. That is 100% their prerogative. Just as it’s 100% your prerogative not to buy it. That’s basically it.

🧵 I’m sorry to do this to you, but there’s a Part 2. I waited to share this part because I worried most of you'd not be able to handle all of this at once. But you’ve had a week to recover, so let’s dive into how Apple execs are giving themselves bonuses as a reward for illegal dumping! ⬇️
🧵 In 2020, I nearly died from mysterious industrial chemical exposure at my apartment. Later, I discovered my employer was dumping toxic waste into our windows from their Skunkworks semiconductor fab next-door. I tipped off US EPA, who then raided them in 2023. EPA sent me the report on Friday. 💀 ⬇️

The rail industry has a climate problem. Rail lines typically follow rivers and shorelines due to the favorable topography. This will mean more washed out and flooded tracks. And it will be rough on the bridges.
