Two years ago — during Australian winter — I visited the Red Centre.
The leader of the camel tour was talking about the ebb and flow of tourism in the area. He said “The only people STUPID enough to visit here in the summer are the Americans” and then he grinned at me.
The Church Floor at Kirkjubæjarklaustur. It is the remains of an old church from the times of the Icelandic Sagas.
Well, that’s what everyone thought when it was discovered.
They were wrong.
It’s naturally occurring basalt.
My parents’ cats over the last 60 years have included:

Meanwhile, our Snowy:
This guy was a stray on a rez who survived by stealing steaks from a country club. Since we adopted him we’re such meanies that we sometimes let the dry food bowl drop below half full & he has to meow for upwards of 10 minutes before we correct it.
This guy & his brother showed up at my parents’ house showing signs of trauma from abuse. My parents gave them a safe home but they had weakened immune systems and after a couple of years we lost them to FIP.
