And yes, we're also talking about actual young people, who deserve much more respect than they're often granted. Not just because they're people (!) but because they offer a view into the present that is denied to those of us whose perspective is constrained by our different formative experiences.

I'm not sure people realize that "younger voters" includes people in their 40s. These youngsters being condescended to are in fact middle-aged, and they will probably form the majority of Dem voters in November. They also show no signs of becoming more conservative as they age--the opposite in fact.

As the above poll shows, sympathy for Palestinians is about even in the 50+ cohort, and markedly greater among under-50 Dem voters. Since the latter are probably going to comprise the majority of Dem voters in 2024 it's hard to understand why Dem policy isn't more aligned with their position.

The second time was worse because I admitted to being suicidal and their response was to lock me up for three days. And one of the staff literally admitted that they do it even when it's not necessary sometimes to generate income.

I racked up tons of credit card debt from being hospitalized twice, and they're still sending me bills. For involuntary hospitalization. Something I literally never asked for and had no say in. They're charging me for that. Still. To this day.

I’ve been thinking about our understandable despair a lot lately. Let’s reframe: My outrage at systemic violence and calamity is an extension of my love and joy. But I *live* rooted in love and joy. This joyful life is the best apocalypse I’ve ever had. And that’s why I will always fight for it.

At least they let us know it’s pointless in time to enjoy our last summer I guess. Oh wait no Gaza is murdered, the planet is murdered, the poor are murdered, everything is murder, death is the only sweetness that awaits.

Being angry is a normal response to genocide. I think it's inevitable that there will be intense arguments between friends and family over misinterpreted statements etc. It's not a great situation it's just human. Not directed at anyone, just something I have been thinking over the past 9 months.

The Arab Peace Initiative is 22 years older, one year younger than me, and has never once been seriously considered by Israel. Why? Because the U.S. has never endorsed the initiative and has never pressured Israel to contemplate it. The U.S. will not do so tomorrow either. We should ask why.

A lot depends on whether or not people like Bret McGurk and Jack Lew remain in a Harris presidency. Does she shake things up? Does she appoint a new special liaison to the Palestinians or does she go as far as to recognize Palestine and appoint an ambassador? Does she not veto UNSC resolutions?

Harris is reportedly more sympathetic to Palestinians than Biden and has been one of the people most urgent in asking Biden to more meaningfully speak on the suffering that civilians are enduring. Whether or not a Harris presidency would see real change is beyond me.

No joke here (sorry): Homelessness in Finland is very low because they provide small apartments and mental health support without any conditions attached to it. 80% of those who use it get jobs , gain stable housing, and sobriety But thanks for the plastic trash can in NYC, Mayor Adams

A good reminder though that alcohol withdrawals are some of the most dangerous, it’s one of the only drugs where sudden abstinence can actually kill you. Much more fatal than Heroin withdrawal. Don’t think you have to do it alone. So many of us put here to help you help you. Be safe!

Please check into a rehab facility Ive had friends die withdrawing at least know you may call a hospital and should go if it gets bad
