Very much worth emphasizing that this isn’t a quirk of Covid vaccines. The primary criterion for ALL vaccines is that they reduce mortality. Reducing infectiousness, if that happens, is a bonus.

The vaccine doesn't prevent infection, it just reduces the chance that you will need to be hospitalized
