I like to go places and see things. Listening is good too. Forever 💙.

Thinking about this all weekend really. Her message was dead on accurate - too accurate, in fact. It’s telling that she hasn’t received the same long term celebration Colbert and others have - she dared implicate not just MAGA Republicans but the ‘liberal’ media that enabled them
I actually kind of forgot about her. I can't imagine this particular message made her a lot of friends

If you steal $1000, you can be sent to prison. When health insurance companies steal $50,000,000,000, they get tax breaks, subsidies and government contracts, while the people they steal from die or go into debt. But keep blaming immigrants and poor people for rising crime.

You can't even have a conversation with these people. Not that Elon ever talks to regular people (i.e *not* sycophants). They're so disingenuous, why bother. Sidenote: wearechildfree.com is the first time/place I've seen active acceptance of women who chose not to have children...

Thiry pages into The Demon of Unrest, by Erik Larson. I really enjoy Larson's writing and read his The Splendid and the Vile twice.

Lol. Had to read that twice.

Artificial scarcity is an existential part of the Republican Party. Convince the working classes they must fight each other for pieces of the needlessly-small pie, while the GOP gets busy cutting taxes & creating new subsidies for billionaires.
The governors of a dozen Republican-led states — AL, AK, FL, GA, IA, MS, OK, SC, SD, TX, UT, WY — opted out of a new federal food assistance program, leaving about 9.5 million students without the aid this summer
Republican-led states are blocking summer food benefits for hungry familieswww.usatoday.com Money for food is especially tight for families in a dozen states where Republican lawmakers declined to accept federal food assistance.

republicans are aces at propaganda. Like all criminals, I sure wish they'd direct their energy into something productive...

Dear assholes who find this acceptable, Question your assumption that mobility issue = less mentally capable. One of the reasons people with MS refuse to use mobility aids is the embarrassment that stems from that assumption. Also get fucked.
IMO this is a straight-up ageist and ableist image, no?

Yep. If you want to "accomplish" something by posting online, you just have to give people concrete things to do instead of just pontificate. People are hungry for ways to get involved and try to make a difference. Here's a starter kit of folks I see doing that regularly. go.bsky.app/9H3C9Ty
We're about to post our way to $1,000,000 raised for voting rights. lol

Something hopeful: We're 61 electoral votes away from passing the National Popular Vote compact. If, say, PA, NC, VA, MI pass the law, 272 electoral votes will be decided by the national popular vote. The legislative process is underway in those states. www.nationalpopularvote.com/state-status

yeah. and the ethical void here is just beyond description. like Petey Baker doesn't vote because that might indicate Political Bias but it's fine for the entire org to hound the president out of office in a fit of pique when the republic itself is literally on the line

History will recall that the New York Times, that bastion of "the liberal media," on July 4, 2024 chose to give prime space on their op-ed page to a theocratic absolutist who argued that people shouldn't vote, even though he himself has voted in the last 2 elections (but nowhere is that mentioned).
When I first saw this I thought "no, that can't possibly be true." But alas, the Times did indeed choose today of all days to publish a right winger's recycled piece about how they don't vote, failing to mention that the author basically thinks absolutist theocracies are cool.
