DAs often face little accountability. Take Mississippi's Doug Evans: Over 26 years, his team routinely struck Black people from juries—a pattern exposed in the case of Curtis Flowers, who he tried 6 times. He faced no discipline, retired on his own terms. boltsmag.org/mississippi-...
Mississippi DA, Exposed for Striking Black Jurors, Leaves His Office On His Own Termsboltsmag.org When the Supreme Court struck down Curtis Flowers’ conviction, it sparked lawsuits, bills, and calls for oversight. But DA Doug Evans is getting to walk away with no accountability.

Thinking aloud: If Trump had been killed he'd be a martyr; St Donald Sympathy would have been huge (see how people who hated Kennedy love him still) Now he's still alive maybe there's a chance for people to see how mendacious, vicious, vindictive and plan nasty he really is. We can but hope

Calgary’s Peace Bridge. An excellent example of how investing a bit extra into high quality design can completely change the face of a city.

Look who doesn't understand that these special sections are printed up days earlier, and who will ignore the fact that multiple people in his replies are telling him that, but will still milk this stupid point for the guy he's now supporting politically.

So the Secret Service can’t stop a gunman from shooting at a candidate for president — but the right-wing “solution” to gun violence is to arm teachers?!? Got it.

This is getting a little ridiculous. True loser shit. It’s basically tied. What do these people think their jobs are?

Two things are true in the study of human behavior: 1) human behavior is often somewhat predictable. 2) individuals always have power and agency to behave in ways that are unexpected. Thus, Beware the “inevitability narrative.” Nothing is inevitable. Ever.

My colleagues & I have studied the social media aftermath of mass shooting events for a decade. We’re still processing the horrifying, abhorrent, and tragic event yesterday, which appears to be an assassination attempt on former President Trump. In case they're useful, here are some first thoughts:

"Free bathing cars" were a long-standing summer tradition in Toronto, started by the Toronto Railway Co. in the 1890s & kept for a number of years by the TTC. Streetcars transported kids, for free, on various city routes to Sunnyside Beach where they could "bathe", AKA swim.

Please don’t “both sides” the “violent political rhetoric” conversation when one side regularly glorifies and intimidates with guns and the other side speaks out to end gun violence. These are not the same.

MSNBC just interviewed a Trump supporter who was at the rally and she said “There is too much hate” and we need to pray for the country. She is wearing a “Know Your Parasites” t-shirt. These people have no self awareness.

If a Democrat had been the target of an assassination attempt, can anyone plausibly imagine a Trump statement that did not denigrate and equivocate?
