The single greatest threat to sharks, by far, so much that there’s not really a number 2 threat, is unsustainable overfishing. The single most effective thing folks can do to help is don’t buy unsustainable seafood. Notice I didn’t say give up all seafood. Sustainable seafood is great.

What is something a common ordinary person can do to help shark conservation? Any things to avoid buying, or any places to donate to that are good places? I'm landlocked so actually being on the coast doesn't help. :(

If you’re looking for a Red State to find groups to work with- look at Texas. We were close to shifting purple in 2020. Organizers there are exhausted. Abortion and trans youth care in particular need help. We’re dropping doctors like flies.

Pointing again at my US Blue State Challenge. If you live in a "blue state", pick the red state you hate the most and the issue you care about the most and find a group in that state working on that issue and support them.

I don’t wish to crassly promote my work in the wake of serious allegations against a beloved creator; but I will say that the graphic novel I’m about to launch a crowdfund for is written about exactly this sort of thing. It’s about having heroes and what do you do when they turn out to be awful.

Apparently Neil Gaiman has been accused of sexual assault by two women. But so far the only sources I’ve seen for this are a podcast with TERF links and a Substack from major TERF Julie Bindel. I don’t know what to think yet. But I’m sad

It definitely should not have to be the primary concern for literally the most tired and vulnerable people in a given population. Some of us should be able to just vote once or twice a year and then go draw silly cartoons the rest of the time.
