6/x It is a possibly unrecoverable development in American culture that we have so valorized the individual (and some have done so for sinister reasons, to break up community solidarity, unions, etc) that the fundamental beliefs necessary to keep a working democracy are no longer even *understood*.
If nothing else ?
I want yall to be nicer to yourselves because no matter what you did today ?
You ain’t crash the internet based on hubris and bad commit on a Friday
One thing that radicalized me was learning that just 11 people were responsible for the massive wave of book bans over the past couple years. rop.org/update/11-pe...
“They want to eliminate national parks” is a very simple way to get just about anyone on the Stop Project 2025 train. Are there much more glaring and life-threatening goals of P25? Yes but even your most bigoted cousin does not want to see the parks system sold for parts.
oh my god now there's a "future of prison" startup that says it will use AI and brain implants to plant fake memories into the brains of criminals, "rehabilitating" them in minutes instead of years and I am going to spend the rest of the day screaming now

The number of adults I sell on the public library, who had *no idea* of all the things they can get there! "But I don't have time to take the kids..."
It's ok, they can check out ebooks & you don't even have to make time to return them! "Audiobooks are so expensive..." They loan those too!
🧵
As a former librarian, I'll add:
Rich (& middle class) ppl also close libraries bc they can't conceive of the need, aka a failure of empathy.
I was *constantly* asked:
1) People still go to libraries? (yes)
2) Isn't everything digitized now? (wow, no, let's examine just how how wrong that is)
Bitcoin consumes about 2.5% of US electricity, about the same as all residential cooling. An article decrying *that* electricity usage as a personal moral failing would be much less tone deaf.
See, but to implement this, we would have to care about a) the health and safety of homeless people and b) saving money. What we as a society *actually* care about is c) punishing people for not being born to a privileged life.
(UNIVERSAL BASIC INCOME NOW, FFS.)
"The savings manifested in [basic income] program participants staying in homeless shelters less frequently, requiring fewer ambulance rides, emergency room visits and hospital stays, and spending fewer nights in jail or drug and alcohol treatment centers, a report released Tuesday morning shows."
Seriously, check if your antidepressants put you at risk for lower heat tolerance. It's possible you're not (just) aging, you're dealing with symptoms of a routine medication.
Many common medications, including antidepressants, can reduce your heat tolerance.
If you live in a place that doesn’t usually get this hot, now is a good time to check all of your prescriptions’ side effect lists to see if they include sensitivity to heat / heat intolerance.
in the middle of all this my father is in danger of srs bodily harm from my mother because he got a shot to help with bird flu and is insisting on calling it the Corvid Vaccine
i maintain that Pacific Rim's "drift compatibility" concept is one of The ideas of all time. it can be platonic, it can be romantic, it's Love That Makes Big Robots Go and i think that's beautiful
Did I ever post this here? Super cutesy Lupin gang (and Zenigata & Yata) that I'm thinking of turning into acrylic pins.
Lupin the Third is pretty obscure, though, so I don't know how well they'd sell. *I* want them, but I'm weird.
It wouldn’t feel right if I didn’t post Hue. He’s been one of my most popular works since I created him and I think this will be a lovely place to share him as well!
