Engineering is fun for him because he doesn't do engineering, other people have to actually do the work to try to make his stupid ideas actually function, and the successful stuff was already in progress when he bought companies.
Kim Jong Il style engineering. Drops by the place where work is happening, everyone stops working to entertain him, he makes a stupid comment that is praised as a transformative deep insight, he gets all the credit for any success and no blame for failure.
I wouldn't be shocked to hear he had a hand in some Tesla engineering. The numerous design flaws would be easier to explain. They were engineered by folks who shouldn't be building cars either way.
“I, a mutlibillionaire and almost trillionaire, am going to effect global change through posting like a 4-Chan-pilled homeschooler” is just a wild self-conception for someone who could pay out-of-pocket for inpatient therapy.
Engineering is "fun" for him because he tosses out an idea and lets everyone *else* figure out how to do it (or not). There's no real consequences for him, no one calling him out on his bad ideas.
He doesn't have that safety net with posting crap on Twitter.
I swear this sounds like a Simpsons joke. Homer as a kid putting his hand on a hot stove and screaming, pulling it off, looking at it like 🤔, putting it back on and screaming, and over and over again. Meanwhile Abe looks on like, “… Yep, that’s my dumbass boy all right.”
By "Doing Engineering" he means "giving marching orders to a bunch of engineers who he can fire if they talk back". Politics, people are perfectly capable of talking back, so there are repercussions for him fucking up.
Also, he's a money guy, not an engineer. BAs in Physics and Econ, neither of which is an Engineering specialty. Apparently he didn't think being Delos D. Harriman was kewl enough.
To be fair, he told everyone to vote Republican in November of 2022... and the Democrats ended up vastly outperforming, versus the polls & media narrative.
So... maybe he -is- helping?
