Donald Trump and his campaign hope President Biden stays in the race, according to four people familiar with private discussions, believing they can beat him even with Trump’s felony conviction and other charges. But they are also ramping up attacks on Vice President Harris.
Trump advisers hope Biden stays in race, as they eye alternate scenarioswww.washingtonpost.com After dismissing suggestions the president could withdraw, the Trump campaign is beginning to consider having to reboot the campaign.

My favorite line about war applies here: "The aggressor is always peace-loving... he would prefer to take over our country unopposed." No man, if you're trying a revolution against the Constitution of the United States, pro-Constitution Americans aren't going to simply get out of your way. Hard no.

Reminder from a Pittsburgher who was at one point Mr. Rogers neighbor: “Look for the helpers” was intended to be advice for his usual audience, children. We’re grown ups now. We’re supposed to be the helpers.

The president who was willing to use the military to oppose and vanquish a seditious faction that was waging war against the United States is now considered our greatest president it occurs to me for no particular reason.

"we are in the process of the second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless if the left allows it to be" The big tent needs to get it together. Everyone in it needs to vote AND get aligned with their community organizers. There is no neutral action (or inaction).

Can someone tell me where Anthony Kennedy and his shitty son are right now??

David Von Drehle, author of this rightly mocked piece, is an Idiot -- good thing he won't have much of a legacy as it's very difficult to read properly while rolling your eyes
YES THAT WORKED SO WELL AND DID NOT AT ALL THROW THE PARTY INTO A DIVISIVE NOMINATION CONTEST AND LOST ELECTION THAT WOULD HAUNT IT FOR THE NEXT HALF CENTURY

Clarence Thomas unquestionably committed tax fraud on his motorcoach deal and the president has the power to put him in handcuffs this afternoon, in his official capacity in charge of the IRS and federal law enforcement

While we're at it, I would still love to know who purchased Kennedy's SCJ seat.

Good point from Sotomayor here. By barring prosecutors from probing a president's intent, Roberts renders the entire "official vs. unofficial" distinction meaningless.

The Court ruling today is terrible but expected. I will just gently remind everyone that the election hasn’t happened yet. We shouldn’t assume the worst outcome as a foregone conclusion. That only encourages more apathy than many are already feeling.

Things are bad but all the more reason for optimism of the will and rejection of doomerism and nihilism. Only way out is through.

This Originalist™ court has effectively immunized both the president and all federal law enforcement officers from any meaningful accountability. Because if there are two things the Founders cherished, it's the power of a king-like executive and armed agents of the government to act with impunity.

maybe seizing and arresting the Supreme Court majority for aiding and abetting an attempt to overthrow the U.S. government can be a "core constitutional duty" and an "official act," why not

This is not to dissuade you from any ongoing pledges to spit on Scalia's grave or anything it's just remarkable that this is still true.
The Overton window has shifted so far that SIX members of the Court are ow willing to scrap Chevron, something even Scalia would not have done. Here is Scalia defending it in 1989 (before affirming it again as recently as 2013 in Arlington v FCC): biotech.law.lsu.edu/blog/Judicia...

On the same morning, the Court said: 1) We should not presume to know more than small town mayors regarding complex, technical questions like whether to arrest people for being poor. 2) I don't see why a "PhD" in "nuclear physics" should have any latitude to implement ambiguous energy rules.

Fun part about this approach is that every elected Democratic official can ruefully shake their head at a reporter and say, "Regrettably, I believe a functional regulatory state is something we should have, but our friends across the aisle disagree, so..."

This isn't a party leadership thing, though, this is just advocacy groups taking the *obvious and correct path* under the current regulatory scheme that *the conservative majority insists is the fair way to play*.
