I think billboards highlighting each chapter of Project 2025 placed in specific locations. For example the chapter on gutting military benefits should have billboards on highways near big military bases. Plans for destroying Social Security have billboards all over in Arizona and Florida.

This semester I’m going to tell my students I don’t care if they use ChatGPT to write their papers, much as I don’t care if they use LSD and a ouija board write their papers. I’ll give fancy-sounding bullshit a failing grade no matter how it’s produced.
Well this is grim

I could swear I saw a teacher post an assignment where they had generated a paper via chatgpt, and the task was to fact check it and rewrite it. Which drove the students up the wall

Great piece.
Watching the entire "should Biden step down" discussion play out completely among donors and insiders is an incredibly bleak illustration of how absent the working class base of the Democratic Party is from its power center. We can fix that. www.hamiltonnolan.com/p/the-hole-a...

There was no GOP party platform in 2020, and Trump wants to shrink the proposed 2024 one. He opposes providing detail on how radical his second term will be because he knows its unpopular. Make no mistake: Project 2025 was written by Trump appointees & loyalists. Its their shared agenda.
even trump’s campaign staff (i assume he didn’t write this) knows that the reactionary, authoritarian agenda that’s project 2025 is going to be unpopular with the average voter.

Anyway in case you've been wondering why the Times has it's knife into the Biden admin, here's why. They reduced access for the most access obsessed dipshits in America. Thats all it took. Well, that and Biden saying Sulz should pay higher taxes on his personal wealth

If you're not doing it to send a message (as opposed to influencing an outcome, even if only to push that outcome harder), it's not performative.

Also, while RCV is better, no system squeezing the opinions of millions of people down to a limited number of choices is going to make people happy. As John Stewart said, "It's an election. It's supposed to taste like a shit taco."

There's a simple and obvious but essential order of operations here: 1) Elect pro-democracy Democrats to WH, Congress 2) Get rid of the filibuster, without which you can't do anything else 3) Expand/rebalance the court, without with the Court will block anything else 4) Lots more democracy reforms
While I'm at it I will add that expanding & rebalancing the Court is not the only necessary Court reform, it *is* the one that would immediately disempower the right-wing authoritarians who have seized control of SCOTUS and who would block any other meaningful reforms. bsky.app/profile/jami...

With regard to former Sec. of Defense Mark Esper’s chilling account that then-President Trump wanted troops confronting protestors in Lafayette Park to “shoot them in the legs”, I’d love to hear someone ask the follow up question whether Trump understood that people would fall & get hit in torso.

I’m sorry, what?! Have folks memory-holed the coverage of Trump’s first term? This came up!
The discourse around biden needing more sleep is fully insane. Does no one remember "Executive Time," the thing Trump spent the majority(!) of his schedule on where he would just watch TV and tweet? Dude was categorically unable to fulfill any of the demands of the office and the press barely cared

One of my biggest "grinds my gears" is performative voting, or voting in a non-primary election for the purpose of "sending a message." I've been raving about it for years, but I think I finally have the words to describe exactly what I think about it. Buckle up. /1
Avatar
Performative voting is kind of like masturbating while imagining someone in order to spite someone else. The person you're not imagining will never know about it, at most, the person you're thinking about might appreciate the votes in aggregate, but your particular vote is meaningless to them. /2
Avatar
If you're doing it privately (and we hope you are), then no-one will ever find out about it at all. If you photograph the evidence then a lot of people are going to think you're kind of strange, and maybe need to set some clearer boundaries. /3
Avatar
If you proceed to tell everyone what you're doing, then only those who share your fetish are going to appreciate it at all, but only as validation of their own should-have-been-private actions, and everyone else is reaching for the cleaning supplies and the hand sanitizer. /4
Avatar
Also, they may be dialing 911 depending on the place and how loud you are. So be good to the people around you. If you insist on performative voting, please restrict it to an audience of one, because that's the number of people it will matter to in the end. /fin
