I gotta say, FEDERAL SANDWICH is the best idea I've heard in a long time, and I'm ready to start doorknocking on this issue. Where's my clipboard and trusty stzck of pens?
POSTAL BANKING is a great idea and it leads me to my other great idea: FEDERAL SANDWICH. Guaranteed access to a sandwich to anyone who wants one at ANY US Federal Govt facility. Let me explain. No, there is too much, let me sum up:

Happy #primeweek! I just want to let y’all know that the Amazon shipping warehouse where my husband works is denying workers fans during a nationally recognized heat emergency and everything you order during time week places workers’ lives at risk.

The original poster, @katharinehayhoe.com , is actively recruiting for her "scientists who do climate" list on Bluesky.
I already invite people on X to join us here weekly. But thanks to this analysis, I've decided to re-create my "scientists who do climate" list here this summer, and manually invite each of the 3,000 members on X to join us. If you're still on X, pls consider inviting your followers to join us too!

This is a heartening thread comparing likes, posts, and shares on Bluesky, Threads, and X. There's also information about a climate change scientists regular posting. Bluesky performed really well -- and the difference between positive responses and trolling is dramatic.
Yesterday, I shared this same Canada Day thread on Bluesky, Threads, and X. Here's what I found. 🧵

I wanted to vote in 2004: naturalization took too long. I loved going with our kid to these when they were small. This is the first I've been to for a bit & I mostly lay on grass. There're good+bad things about this place but these people put in the work to come here & I love to see them celebrated.
Went to the Naturalization ceremony in downtown Northampton today because my kid wanted to go & it was wonderful.

The thing I can't stop thinking about is this: I'm 48, and in my adult lifetime there has been one Republican who won the popular vote. But I will probably spend the rest of my life under the authority of a Supreme Court dominated by hard right conservatives. How is that democracy?

I have said all along that I think Biden will win in November; I know he is the only choice to preserve this disgrace of a democracy. And still, this is terrible. It is shameful. That this is the best we have on both sides? The moderators refuse to moderate. It’s fucking ridiculous.

This debate is a prime example of how profoundly we are ill equipped to deal w/the rise of authoritarianism. Letting blatant lies fly. Doing nothing to follow up on lies & ignoring questions. Normal rules don't apply. We need to think--CLEARLY--about the best ways to clear the air & support truth.

Heard four minutes of the debate on NPR in the car and got so depressed that I was actually relieved when my baby started screaming in his car seat and I had to sing loudly to him and could no longer hear the radio.

Happy Pride to all in the great thread below. Also to those unexpectedly kind and or gallant to queer strangers. And the expansive young people who grin at me on my trike. And brave ones starting a new dyke bookstore in my town. To the shy, the rowdy, and the fat. Thanks, @wiswell.bsky.social
Happy Pride to gay people who support trans people, and trans people who support ace/aro people, and ace/aro people who support unsure and questioning people. Happy Pride to all of us who are there for all of us.

Read first six pages of Housemates by Emma Copley Eisenberg. Someone is holed up in her house in an artless season, having survived her "Housemate" who died many years ago. I am having a "Killing Me Softly" feeling: "as if he'd found my letters and read each one outloud." Excited + a little scared.

Murray Hill! So great in Somebody Somewhere. I read once twenty years ago at a fat queer event he mc'd called Jiggle-O at a club named Galapagos in Brooklyn. The evening was put together by my pals from NOLOSE. "Nice job, kid," he said to me from the bar as I left. Readings! Thrilled by this.

I love to give readings. Reading at Writers with Drinks back in the day was great because of how @charliejane.bsky.social treated my work. I've signed up to read new work at @readercon.bsky.social in July. I'm scared that no one will come. Scared I won't be ready. Those risks themselves move me.
I love hearing authors read their own work. Author readings are the lifeblood of book culture -- i miss bookstore readings and spoken word events. So in my latest newsletter I offer some tips to help authors do a better job with reading out loud 📚🎤🤩 buttondown.email/charliejane/...
