Do this. If you’re concerned about what’s in your sunblock (and this genuinely is a place where from a cancer prevention pov all formulas are exceedingly not created equal), ewg has got you: www.ewg.org/sunscreen/
Please for the love of god wear sunblock.
Sunscreen Guide - Rated by Scientists | EWGwww.ewg.org EWG scientists rated more than 1,700 products, and only about one in four products meets our standards for adequate sun protection and avoids ingredients linked to known health harms.

Why to read this article past headlines: You, extremely online, already know about Lilly Gaddis. Though not before she said a racial slur, which is what my story is about. Because the right wing trolling economy is what interests me, not this stupid lady. www.salon.com/2024/06/17/a...

Looking to the country under the past several years, we can see that violent threats have shifted from unacceptable statements of intent to harm, to mere acts of speculation that cannot be proven until the harm has already occurred. This is a true story. It happened this week.

Agreed and also it is fascinating watching Jack adopt the exact aesthetic of the totalitarian Rasputin character from Hulu's "The Great"
If your vision of utopia is that no one has to do anything about Nazism, you're ultimately indecipherable from a Nazi.

The subject is serious and the history is grim, but the post itself is funny. There are important lessons here, but I promise it won’t feel like homework.
It's hard to talk about something if we can't see how insidious ideas got there in the first place. A history of antisemitism to illuminate where harmful anti-Jewish tropes remain alive in our discourse today-- and how to pull them out of legitimate political conversation. My latest:

this is the correct FIGHT CLUB (1999) take and I'll probably just start linking this instead of trying to explain it to people.
I wrote for @bwdr.bsky.social about the Rules of Watching FIGHT CLUB, one of the last great films of 1999, of the 20th century, of the end times: "And the eighth and final rule of watching FIGHT CLUB: "This is a fucking love story." www.brightwalldarkroom.com/2024/04/29/f...

You, normal American: Wow, this is a worse dog scandal than Mitt Romney's. Me, an Arkansan: Wow, this is almost as bad as when Mike Huckabee's son killed a dog at a Boy Scout camp and then he fired the state police chief for refusing to tell the district attorney not to investigate it.

Happy birthday to Terry Pratchett, who wrote the books so full of humanity and righteous fury at the injustices of the world that he made me a better person the world is poorer for having lost him, but what a legacy he left behind here is a thread I wrote about Discworld, and why it’s so special
A DISCWORLD PRIMER* *or, why should I read this thing that everyone keeps going on about? Come on in, sit down, pull up a chair. If you have followup questions, feel free to ask me or @ankhmorporkcity.watch, we're always happy to help. (1/a lot, idk, we'll figure this out as we go)

This is the response from Northeastern when a reporter pointed out what has actually happened btw
students at Northeastern were arrested under the premise that they were shouting antisemitic slurs and now video is surfacing showing that the slurs in fact came from outside people holding Israeli flags while the pro-Palestine protesters tried to de-escalate i cannot imagine this kind of evil
