Anyway extra LOL at all the people who did the "How dare Alvin Bragg do the hush-money indictment, Trump must be properly convicted of his indisputably serious federal crimes instead" takes too

That's not true? I don't recall Kerry being further right than Gore, Obama wasn't further right than Kerry, and Biden wasn't further right than Hilary. They weren't further left either, it was just the same centrist mishmash.
As the OP notes, every time the Democrats lose badly, their instinct is to move rightward.

Do you think the Democrats are making any plans on what to do when the Republicans in Congress refuse to certify the election this time around?

I don't think Trump is gonna name a VP candidate. Didn't work out last time, so fuck it
We're less than a week before the RNC, and Donald Trump hasn't announced a running mate yet. Who are they trying to shield from scrutiny?

I love how Black people in positions of power are inherently illegitimate to these folks.
I agree that Harris has significant weaknesses as a politician but this is an incredibly ugly way to put it. Also: A centrist candidate choosing another centrist as his running mate — still not the left's fault! Leftists hate Harris, that's actually one of her weaknesses.

that would be true - and i say this as a left-winger who would crawl through broken glass to vote against Trump - were it not for Gaza. you can't hand-wave Gaza and call it maturity. i don't ever want to be so self-important that i get angry about people i like and admire having an ethical line.
The fact that Biden has delivered on left-wing policy far better than any president in generations but is widely despised by left-wing voters reflects more poorly on left-wing institutions and voters than on Biden. This is not a movement showing political maturity, and I say that as a left-winger

Another version might be the "do-genocide-harder" argument about Trump. It's just a bizarre miscategorization of the issue's size and scope. Not that it's exactly wrong, but it is callous and inhumane when used to dismiss the current situation.

Biden doing a kind-of genocide and Trump maybe doing a full-on genocide just shows you how indefensible the system is. If they're both going to do terrible things, that's a reality, but it's not one whose underlying logic you have to support. Governments lose legitimacy when no one supports them.

slightly less virulent version of brain worms you see on here: people conceding that Palestine is an issue but treating it as simply one among many similarly weighted issues, as if disagreeing with a candidate on genocide is like a disagreement on tax cuts

In the end, it’s not the patent convoluted absurdity of figures like Donald Trump & RFK Jr. that’s at issue. It’s that something exists deeply rooted in white American culture that gives them an actual mass appeal. We have to start examining this.

So the center has run out of ideas and alienated everyone, and the left is basically not allowed to exist or take power, so -- WEIRDLY -- the radical right seems to be the only ones stepping up to the plate.

We've reached a point in American political life where the vast majority of the public and much of the elite agree our political system doesn't work, but we've not yet reached the point where anyone is proposing changing it at the scale of the problem.

Let's be clear, when mayors say they want to ban masks for "safety", they couldn't care less about public safety. What the mean is they want to see faces for surveillance purposes. They care about criminalizing your right to protest not your health or safety.

Many (most?) powerful Dems identify more with wealthy suburban anti-tax center/right drivers than with their own base (city dwellers, transit riders, etc.) They see transit, bike lanes, etc. as for Others - give them lip service & will try for progress, but will dump them at the slightest pressure

Re LRT, some people made fun of Elizabeth Warren's "I have a plan for that" refrain, but the main reason I supported her was because she looked at actual problems and tried to come up with ways to solve them.
