Something I've gotten better at- a sign of personal growth- is that if someone says "I don't understand the argument for Y" and Y is something I disagree with, I no longer compulsively produce the best arguments for Y I know.

Organizers got enough signatures to put a measure protecting abortion on the ballot in Arkansas. In *Arkansas*. They had *no national support*. Ignore the pundits melting down over not being treated as Very Special Boys. Dobbs has fundamentally changed elections. Everything they know is wrong.

I will bang this drum forever: in THEY THOUGHT THEY WERE FREE: THE GERMANS, 1933-45 Milton Mayer interviewed 10 ordinary Germans after WW2 to learn how fascism took hold. There was never a moment when everyone woke up:
if you’re waiting for everyone around you to wake up, you’ll wait forever. this is how the people grinding our bones to make their bread WANT you to be. paralyzed, alienated & purposeless

My guess is that Trump knows very little about P25 *and* it will be the blueprint for his administration. He’s famously bored by policy. He’ll appoint these people because they’re loyal. They’ll then go to work on the plan while he grifts, golfs, and gives two-hour speeches at rallies.
Trump: I don't know anything about Project 2025 Here is a list of all the Trump officials who authored the Project 2025 blueprint, Mandate for Leadership. 25 of 36 were part of the Trump administration. project2025istheocracy.substack.com/p/project-20...

They’re gonna ban TikTok because the KPOP army made fun of his empty rally that got his internet guru fired. The right made one of the world’s richest men buy Twitter because we were bullying fascists and organizing. American journalism has become almost exclusively transcribing tweets.
People are like "there's no point in posting it doesn't make a difference to anything," 8 years after Donald Trump posted his way to the presidency of the United States

The day for my tailoring appointment is finally here, and instead of excitement I had anxiety dreams. My gender dysphoria is almost nonexistent these days, but apparently having my measurements taken (and going to the queer friendly tailor bc they're so different from a cis man's) can trigger it.

Recognizing a verbal misstatement and immediately correcting it is not a sign of cognitive deficit. It's actually evidence against it.

I feel the same after my T got suppressed with cypro. So much more at ease in myself. If the T were to return due to the cypro being taken away from me, I think I could not survive. I would have to find a way to keep the supply going. #IWontGoBackToLivingHowIWas

Nothing is stopping every single Democratic elected official and apparatchik from taking the airwaves every single day to articulately and decisively repeat a set of cogent talking points about Trump (ie 45). Nothing. Dem PACs could be slamming him with ads now. Stop whining and do that.

I should stop politics posting, but my worldview changed when I realized I came of age during a time very much like the 1950s- a time of broad conformity and conservative political consensus. Longing to go back to that isn't as different from welcoming the rise of fascism as you think.

The party of shrugging their shoulders and saying how bad the other guy is has simply got to get their shit together. If it's that bad, what are you going to DO about it? C'mon, man!

"We're facing a national emergency and the only solution is more voting." Motherfuckers, what are we voting FOR???

OK, I'll go from there: You're saying that things are currently so bad that even if Biden has dementia he can't step down, because the Supreme Court has staged a coup and now runs the country.

Especially given that Biden was an erratic speaker in his prime—the question is how far off his cognitive baseline Biden is now, and if you're gonna push out a news alert every time he misspeaks and immediately corrects himself, you're just making it harder for the public to figure it out!
It’s pretty alarming how the reporters suddenly devoted to watchdogging Biden can’t tell the difference between real drastic glitches like in the debate and normal fumbling

Trans healthcare saves lives. America's trans & nonbinary legislators are calling on the Biden Administration to oppose any attempt to ban puberty blockers, hormone replacement therapy, & surgery for young trans people, and to follow medical best practices as set out in WPATH.

i got in under the wire, they aren't accepting new patients anymore. we're completely overwhelmed with trans patients from other states because "gender issues" are going so fucking badly in this country

Even if your well-being isn’t deeply affected by the hormones your body produces and the ones it doesn’t, it should anger everyone with a body that some people want withhold medicine from other people because they disapprove.
In the past couple of weeks Biden's partial reversal on supporting GAC for youth combined with several very extreme SCOTUS decisions and Biden's current troubles have made it seem plausible that my healthcare isn't safe even in a blue state. This is not okay.

I don't give a damn about Biden, kinda want him to be replaced by Harris after his ratfucking of the trans community last week, but I do care what his ACTUAL cognitive state is, and this is evidence of mental acuity, not the reverse, fwiw.
"flubbed"? He mispoke between a billion and a trillion and corrected himself? That's a flub?

Now everyone--The Times and, sorry to say, MSNBC--is noting every missed syllable. The man has a stutter. I don't stutter but I am a mushmouth who speaks too fast and slurs words. I've had to overcome fear of public speaking. I have empathy for Biden. The press has empathy for no one (but Trump).

you know what it was like being full of the wrong hormone? scurvy. i was fucked. my body hurt. thinking felt like sucking oatmeal through a straw. if you’re trans, the right hormone hits like orange juice when you’ve had scurvy. i’m still on a sinking pirate ship, but my body & brain work again.

i didn’t start til i was over 40. what got me going was getting okay with the thought i’d still be happier even if i were hideous, but turns out it’s the first time since before puberty i’m okay with how i look. dysphoria lies. if you think you’re trans, give the right hormone a try.

@assigned.bsky.social: A new study in the Journal of Adolescent Health reveals that discontinuing medical transition treatments is not the same as detransitioning. It revealed that 16% of trans people discontinued treatment, but in that same sample, 80% of them continued to identify as trans.

Sticking with Biden or running Harris would be *far* less risky than dedicating two of the next four months to Democrat infighting, followed by an unprecedented delegate voting process and dubious chances of even getting on the ballot. Knowing this shit is supposed to be these people's job

What gives me hope are the normal people trying to save things. People running for school board against moms for liberty freaks, college kids protesting, local newsrooms investigating corruption etc. They inspire but also make me pissed off at the powerful people/institutions that won’t defend them

If Biden hadn't chosen this week to throw trans youth under the bus I'd be feeling a ton of sympathy right now for him, like us, being the target of a relentless NYT smear campaign.

i was just going to make a post about this. if trump decides you are an enemy of the state or a “threat to national security” and has you deported, citizenship or not, there’s nothing you can do to get home. he has full legal power to render you stateless.
Related, if trump is summarily deporting citizens under his new mass deportation regime, citizenship and an ability to appeal to the law isn’t going to get people back in the country. The executive runs border security

yep, it’s the obvious next move
There is also every reason to think that this court will expand Trump v. U.S in his second term to extend immunity to those doing his bidding. I.e., “Our holding in Trump v. U.S. demands that government officials be able to enact the will of the executive without fear of criminal proceedings.”
