To me a person's position on trans rights defines what sort of person they are. not because it's the most important issue of our time but because it's so completely clear-cut, trans rights hurt no one, the only reasons to be against them are bigotry and hatred and cowardice in the face of the media.

any Labour members need to sign themselves up to this right now: prideinlabour.substack.com/p/lgbt-labou...
Duffield targeting a primary school is it? But I thought she was a defender of women's rights, not, checks notes, someone who shares uncensored images of kids that are being shared by a man kicked off a counselling course over safeguarding fears (Daily Heil if anyone wants to debase themselves)

Counterpoint: no one should feel pressured to make their social media site a happy place for mediocre cis white men to advertise their constant JAQing off about trans healthcare. No one needs Yglesias's opinion on anything. Bouie, YES YES YES, Yglesias, no.
I said stuff to this effect when Yglesias got ran off the platform but you can’t seriously have a long term functional social media site where the right edge of acceptable discourse is to the left of Yglesias or NYT. For one thing, you kill your ability to move people to the left.

We really cannot preserve democracy if the self-imagined journalists covering the RNC climax every time Trump stages spectacle and ignore JD Vance's extremist views.

I know we're supposed to turn down the rhetoric but...this isn't rhetoric, these are just facts
I know no one has proven that Trump has sexually assaulted minors but like, -A court ruled that the preponderance of the evidence suggests he did sexually assault E Jean Carrol -He was close to Epstein -He’s admitted to peeping undressed teenagers He’s almost certainly a child rapist

If employees steal from employers, they get fired and can be sent to prison. When employers steal from employees, they get tax breaks and government contracts. One is considered a crime, the other is considered profit. Lawmakers should answer why. www.propublica.org/article/new-...

very glad to see lots of UK academics and UCU members calling out the Cass Report for what it is. Also immensely grateful to UCU NEC for backing the motion criticising it so overwhelmingly.

i feel like not enough attention is being paid to the fact that Trump posted Obama's home address last year and a jan 6 rioter showed up there with guns, bragging on a livestream that he was looking for a "good angle on a shot" before the Secret Service caught him www.nbcnews.com/politics/jus...
why is there a completely different set of standards for trump

the level of editorializing outlets are comfortable with when it works in the GOP's favor is pretty wild they never seem to have this same editorializing courage when taking about, say, Amazon labor abuses

Trump's USPs are his 'toughness' and 'strength' (' ' because they're both fake). People don't like him because they feel compassion/empathy for him, they like the fact that he hurts people and gloats about it and never faces any consequences.

No one important was punished for Jan 6 so the incident has been backfilled as normal and fine. They wouldn't describe it this way if Trump had been put in cuffs on Jan 20th bsky.app/profile/zach...

Every NYT analysis piece is like: If Biden’s speech was so good, why am I still physically able to type the words “no it wasn’t”?
People are like “HOW WILL BIDEN’S NUMBERS EVER IMPROVE” and the answer is literally “they’ll improve when you talk about something other than how he’s gonna lose”

Note too that the lead scandal here that the press was huffy about was the bogus Times story about Parkinson’s
The political press spent 4 years pretending it was unsavvy for non-reporters to believe the President was too old even though it's been obvious the whole time; now they're gonna try a "how could we have known?!" routine as if it's not a massive self-indictment. www.theguardian.com/us-news/arti...
