you know what's shockingly selfish behavior? insisting on running again when you pledged to be a one term president, and responding to legitimate questions of competency with fury and gaslighting while also somehow failing to complete a thought and mumbling incoherently.
Yeah, faced with the reality that options are bad and uncertain, people are prosecuting the case against Biden by DOING AS MUCH DAMAGE TO BIDEN AS POSSIBLE. It’s totally fine to think X or Y candidate might be better, but torching the most likely alternative is shockingly foolish, selfish behavior

it is unfortunate for everyone else involved on this side of the fence that the elected national members of the democratic party have no other use for political power than to conduct the nicest, kindest funeral they can for both themselves and america

That Vance is a direct line to Thiel and Andreessen is truly important. Trump wants their money. Thiel wants to sell billions in Palantir contracts to power Trump’s mass surveillance/ethnic cleansing infrastructure. Pence was the Christian Nationalists’ guy. Vance is reactionary capital’s.
Are you a fan of all of those guys who are directly responsible for making the internet an unusable dogshit hellhole? Well boy do I have a VP for you.

Senate Dems should take one of their assorted gun control bills off the shelf, rename it something like "Trump Assassination Prevention Act," and force Rs to do a talking filibuster to block it

every time I see someone complain about unions I think about how unions were the consensus alternative to the previous system of burning the factory owner alive inside his house
Not making any threats here, just thinking out loud as a historian — do they people brazenly pushing for impunity for the wealthy elites not know what traditionally comes next?

One of David Graeber's points in Bullshit Jobs is that 20th century automation really did push people out of meaningful work so a lot of meaningless work was created to prevent class war while still making people dependent on a wage so what happens when LLMs push people out of that meaningless work?

The only people who've ever held Trump meaningfully accountable over the last nine years have been ordinary Americans and they've spent that entire time being lectured to and berated by elites who've failed to do anything.

If y’all perceive yourselves as Biden’s outreach team, my god. You’re terrible listeners, don’t actually appear to care about the people you say you’re trying to win over, and — more times than not — the shit you say pisses people off rather than win them over.

Take note this was an explicitly *feminist* agenda stripped down to masculine-coded "infrastructure" projects
Policies in Biden's Build Back Better proposal that would've passed w/ Manchin and Sinema's support: - Universal & free preschool for all 3 & 4 year olds - A limit on child-care expenses to 7% of family income - Child Tax Credit of $300/month for children in poverty - Paid family & medical leave

If the president has no real power, then we don’t need to vote for the president. If the choice of president is consequential, then the president that we voted for *must* use these consequential powers in the way that we have instructed him to do so. Which is it, liberals

Because the same troll networks that did the false Bernie bro claims are the same as the accounts and networks doing genocide denial in support of Biden right now.

Liberals stop parroting fascists challenge failed yet again. This is as authoritarian as any of the Republicans calling for the end of higher education. Hillary just needs to stop speaking publicly. In America we teach the truth and speak truth to power. This is not that.

i think the spread of news and images from gaza has led to the younger generation seeing less moral distance between, i.e., non-state terrorism and state violence. it's not that they're all embracing hamas - they are seeing mass state violence with a moral clarity that political elites don't

Not to be a conspiracy theorist, but I think many people are frustrated with President Biden because his actions and values significantly depart from their own sincerely held beliefs.

Current estimates say that every prompt you give a generative "AI" system— not each session, every PROMPT— is like pouring a 16 oz bottle of water onto the ground. This is a fact that goes somewhere in every talk i give, now, & i always see audience members looking it up… and then looking horrified
Annoyed by articles that go into great detail about what companies say they're doing with so-called "A.I." but do not ask what companies are doing about the technology's ecological impact.
