The utter chaos that is Disney+ episode runtimes will never not be confounding to me. "Here is our big new show. It's 45 minutes except when it's actually a hair over 30 for...reasons. Also, the last 6 minutes are just credits."

Ugh so someone attempted to steal my e-bike while we were at the beach today. Fortunately they did not succeed. But in the process they dinged up the exterior of the battery pretty badly. Can any e-bike folks tell me: is this safe to keep using or does it need to be replaced immediately?

Something I am struggling with: cruelty, in all its forms, appeals to a whole hell of a lot of people. There’s not much to the GOP apart from vulgar cruelty and still they’re viable basically everywhere. No hope, no message, no answers… just stepping on vulnerable people for the thrill of it.

I love fashion, but at a certain point, you realize that the urge to follow trends is about trying to prove that you are worth something as a person. Age usually (tho not always) brings the security, wisdom, and self-knowledge that frees you from that shit, and it is AMAZINGGGG.

Some Millennials in my timeline are insecure because Gen Zs are telling them their ankle socks age them. I can't stress enough that you don't need to care about what a bunch of 20-somethings think about your clothes, mainly bc you don't have to care about what ANYONE thinks about your clothes.

What's really cool is the world cycling championships will be in Kigali, Rwanda in 2025! There is an annual Tour of Rwanda and they are huge cycling fans so it should be an incredible atmosphere!

The first week of the Tour has been absolutely incredible to watch! Tomorrow’s gravel stage is gonna be a nail biter, and next week, we’re headed to the mountains again, where the drama really kicks in.

If you don’t watch cycling I want to share the joy of Eritrean Biniam Girmay, who is the first Black person to win a stage in the Tour de France and now won his second! In the first week! And he’s in green, which means he’s winning the most sprints (and beating Jasper Phillipsen, which is great.)

This is particularly important to understand because Trumpist authoritarianism is the descendent of Jim Crow far more than say Hitler or Pinochet or Orban, and it's going to look a lot more like 1930s Mississippi than 1930s Berlin.

For most of its history, America hasn’t been a democracy, by any meaningful definition of the term! This isn’t some It Can’t Happen Here shit, in a way, it’s already happened. It just may not have directly affected you.

As the parent to an amazing kid who had three surgeries before age four and is essentially a walking pre-existing condition, it’s so exhausting and terrifying to hear people say they’ll stay home on Election Day or that there’s no difference between the parties.

the SCOTUS ruling held that official acts can’t even be used as *evidence* against a president, so the fact that the actual crimes here occurred after he left office doesn’t resolve the issue. that’s that John Roberts magic.

But isn't the docs case about stuff he did after being president? Is the implication here that being president makes you eternally immune from prosecution?
