Local bar/grill has a new lady barkeep who has been making excellent cocktails. Just now I (drinking solo) told her I needed to step outside for a sec, and she said she would keep my drink on her side of the bar for safekeeping. A great little gesture to help solo drinkers feel safe. 💪💪💪

Everyone tells you that training for a fall marathon means that you have to suffer thru long runs in the summer but then it'll be awesome once it's October & cool again, but no one tells you how, exactly, you're meant to run 12 miles tomorrow morning when the dew point will be 73 deg at 5:30am.

Folks on my town's FB page got predictably upset by last night's DJ at the fireworks show, who played a mix of "patriotic songs" (their words) and rap. Someone argued "... Rap is AMERICAN. Made by descendants of the people enslaved here to make it the country it is," which led to this yikes reply.

there's a certain irony that liberals who have spent four years yelling at leftists who criticize Biden at all for any reason have now, in one week, done more damage to Biden's candidacy than all those leftists combined

I think the freakout has been absurd and overblown and far more damaging than the debate itself, which would have been survivable if everyone had been willing to circle the wagons and push back on it I am, from a purely pragmatic standpoint, extremely concerned that the damage cannot be overcome
