Neil Gaiman's claim that one of the alleged victims "was suffering from a condition associated with false memories" is gaslighting at its worst. He is weaponizing mental health to avoid accountability while also exacerbating the trauma that HE ORIGINALLY INFLICTED. It is so nefarious and insidious.

There is an American exceptionalism embedded in the idea that y'all think you can just pick up and leave and go wherever you want. It's cute you think you'd be welcomed. Americans aren't exactly popular in the world.

I will be straight up, considering the United States’ behavior towards refugees fleeing persecution, I’m not sure that Americans who try to do the same shouldn’t have their passports flagged and be asked to leave. But ESPECIALLY if you try to flee to a country USA has interfered with.

My family has had this discussion, we know that no country would accept us as refugees. Our only option is to build community where we stand.

The thing is, when people talk about escaping the US, I can't help but be reminded of fire escape plans where people in wheelchairs are told to stay in the burning building and wait for the firefighters. It's not quite the same thing, but that's what pops into my head.

I might adopt this, it would help with my complete lack of appetite signals and tendency to crash mid-afternoon from lack of calories!!

My latest ADHD ~ hack ~ is eating a big brunch instead of lunch on work days. I'm always hungry before "regular" lunch time anyway and struggle to make it through until it's "okay" to eat lunch, at which point I have to stop everything, lose focus, and eat. So i decided to not do that any more.

I did the math: There’s an estimated 2,781 billionaires on the planet. If they are an average of six feet tall (generous) the stack of them would span 16,686 feet of the Mariana Trench’s 35,814 feet. Leaving 19,128 feet, or room for about 3,188 millionaires.

There is a video from an early Pride festival where Sylvia Rivera storms the stage and rips the organizers a new one for focusing on a party instead of liberation and not wanting to include trans people and boy howdy is it abundantly clear how we got to the place we are now.

Honestly, with a lot of companies and communities scaling back on pride things, and with the right wing more directly challenging LGBT autonomy, it's going to be much easier for us to lose whatever power we have since we didn't assert it the first time.

One of my pet gripes is that we don’t broadly appreciate how badly GWB’s No Child Left Behind law absolutely gutted civics education in America because it tied draconian “accountability” penalties exclusively to math and reading scores (1/)

People make a lot of jokes about voters thinking there's a big dial that controls gas prices in the oval office, but I think "low info voters have no idea what the government actually does" goes a lot deeper than that and they blame whoever is President for anything that annoys them.
