Biden has a bad debate night: calls to step down Documents released that show two underage women accused Trump of raping them on Epstein’s island, under oath: total media silence except in a few blogs and foreign news The media double standard is incredible to see

Every day proves Thaddeus Stevens right: there should've been big Nuremberg-style public trials of leading Confederates, accompanied by seizures of the assets of all pro-Confederate large landowners and businessmen, which should then have been distributed to freed slaves as compensation.
These guys are traitors to the republic just like their heroes Jefferson Davis and Robert E. Lee

Today, the federal government put itself on the right side of history by seeking, for the 1st time, to establish the precedent that every worker in America has the right to shade, water & rest while working in temps that could kill them. -UFW President Teresa Romero www.politico.com/news/2024/07...

Not to freak everybody out, but the implications of reading today's immunity decision with the Eddie Gallagher pardon are extremely dark.

So the Court just granted themselves original jurisdiction over presidential actions, despite that category being notably absent from Article III.2, right?

Two thoughts: 1) This is great! 2) WHERE IN THE FUCK WAS THIS GUY LAST NIGHT?!
Biden in NC today: "I know I'm not a young man. I don't walk as easy as I used to. I don't speak as smoothly as I used to ... [but] I know how to tell the truth. I know right from wrong. I know how to do this job ... I know like millions of Americans know, when you get knocked down you get back up!"

Biden is too old. But he has surrounded himself with competent people and has had a conventional first term. Trump is authoritarian but inept. He has surrounded himself with people he hopes will make him more effective at authoritarianism. Neither is ideal. But these are not similar problems.

If you want to understand the origins and solutions of the American homelessness problem, a really important starting point is to understand that the problem mostly exists in places where *there are lots of jobs and the labor market is really strong,* not in economically depressed areas.

A lot of things that Biden wants to do are things I think are good things we should do. A lot of things Trump wants to do are things I think are bad things we shouldn't do. Therefore I will be supporting Biden even though I don't agree with him on everything. This is not complicated.
Excited to introduce a project I've been working on for a long time: a thorough comparison of Biden and Trump on the issues. "The stakes, not the odds," to borrow from Jay Rosen. The initial version has 6 topics, but I'll be adding more, as well as updating with new statements/policies. Gift link:
Where Joe Biden and Donald Trump Stand on the Issueswww.nytimes.com Here’s what President Biden and former President Donald J. Trump have done and want to do on abortion, democracy, the economy, immigration, Israel and Gaza, and Social Security and Medicare.

Hey an easy way you can tell that "the national economy sucks" polling is unmoored from reality and not the result of, like, unhappiness with food or housing costs, is that people *in the exact same surveys* say their own financial situation and the economy of their city/state is strong.

Its extraordinary how much the press has to bend over backwards to avoid observing what is absolutely obvious to anyone following Cannon's decisions: she is ignoring the law in order to help Trump. (and that her willingness to do this is the reason she was appointed in the first place.) Gift link:

Once again, I think there should be like 75 or more Justices, and they just pick a random panel of 9 for every case, with the possibility of a larger "en banc" panel when things go awry. SCOTUS could grant more cert petitions that way too.
expand the court it is just a suggestion
