Psst: Project 2025 is terrifying for a lot of reasons but also because on page 5 it calls for teachers and librarians who grant access to books that are maligned as pornography (which just means anything LGBTQ) to be registered as sex offenders. Pass it on.

For those freaking out about Project 2025 now and how the word pornography will be weaponised to silence and imprison people, spare half a thought for the sex workers who have been ringing the alarm bell on this for decades.

Glad they got a couple Emmy nods, should've been more, but definitely watch Reservation Dogs if you haven't yet.

Click the link to read about what happened this week at MSNBC when "Morning Joe" was removed from the schedule for a day. view.newsletters.cnn.com/messages/172... Then ask yourself if this is not a dead simple example of what Timothy Snyder meant when he wrote: "Do not obey in advance."

There’s a bookstore in my town in SW Virginia with an entire shelf devoted to how much JD Vance sucks and doesn’t speak for Appalachia, which I’ve always had the sense is a somewhat bipartisan consensus out here, so I confess I am curious to see how that ends up playing.

Both Chrome and Firefox claim their ad snitching features are "privacy-preserving" because they use a buzzword called "differential privacy". Without getting too much into the weeds, my opinion as a subject expert is this technology is "fucking bullshit" and "basically candy for the fucking NSA".

Hot take: I'm truly not interested in hand wringing over how much people will miss enjoying the books of men who have turned out to be abusers. I'm far more concerned about the missing art that women haven't been able to create/publish because they crossed paths with such men.

Seven times between 1801 and 1869 Congress changed the size of the court, going from a low of five justices in 1801 to a high of ten in 1863. In most of those cases, as in 1801 and 1863, the size went up and down in order to fix an imbalance or overreach by the Supreme Court. My latest
The Case for Expanding the Supreme Court Has Never Been Strongernewrepublic.com Biden has repeatedly refused to endorse “court-packing.” The right-wing justices’ ruling on presidential immunity ought to change his mind.

the editor of the New York Times reacting to a potential Trump second term with “fasten your seatbelts” is so deeply vile i can’t wrap my mind around it. these people have detached themselves so completely from the things they cover that the rise of fascism becomes just something exciting to watch
I'm no ivy league fail upward brunchlord news professional, but I feel it's generous to call conspiratorial fascism (managed by a sociopathic manbaby with a fourth grade reading level) "disruptive" that's kind of like saying nuclear annihilation is "modifying"

I think one of the greatest gifts Shelley Duvall gave us is appearing in a bunch of great, interesting, fuckin' weird films. You want to be a Shelley Duvall fan, you gotta ride that lightning. A history of cinema in one person's resume

According to one journalist’s tally, the New York Times has run 192 stories on the subject since the debate, including 50 editorials and 142 news stories. The Washington Post, which has also gone for saturation coverage, published a resignation speech they wrote for him.
