Can't tell if NYTimes is still on Bluesky because we're small and insignificant Or if because they found a much more supportive audience here.

It’s worth reminding ourselves once in a while, even if no one is listening, that DONALD TRUMP IS A HUGE SICKO PERVERT.

We saw it last night and absolutely loved every minute of it. roundtree specifically gives a lifetime performance.

Seriously tho, this movie is awesome and June Squib (93) and Richard Round tree (81) give performances of a lifetime.

The ranking file is mostly but Dem leadership is most certainly encouraging The tempest with their whispers and leaks.

This last week I've been thinking a lot about the. Right after the Access Hollywood tapes. That was a legitimate reason for panic and Republicans did. Briefly. Then they got their shit together. We could take a lesson from that.

Within 2 days, they had released a whole bunch more of podesta's emails And actively turned the conversation to Clinton. Why the fuck are we talking about Biden?

Odds on how long this discourse between two of BlueSky's top arguers goes? Over/Under is 2 days. I like both Rev and Michael, so this is not an invitation to dunk on either but please place your bets.

I think he did. A profound overreaction.

I have never seen that happen before. It's truly not your fault.

To think otherwise is to doom us. Hard times may stand between us and a great future, but letting our fears rule us is our biggest risk.
I'm incredibly bullish on America's future. I get it's a bit hard to see these days--the death throes of unpopular authoritarianism is pretty scary and there are real problems in the immediate term--but I definitely think America's best days are still very much ahead.

Accepting situations over which we have no control is the first step in focusing on those small things we can do, but it's immensely difficult because it feels like surrender and we're mostly trained from childhood not to do it.

I just. It’s. Such a perfect metaphor. Rising waters from climate change threatens LA coastline and $21bn natural gas plant. Wealthy corporate hubristic response is to spend insane amount of money to protect itself alone. www.washingtonpost.com/climate-envi...
A rising fortress in sinking landwww.washingtonpost.com Rising seas and steel walls test the strength of a Louisiana coastal gas development, raising questions about flooding, climate change and community impacts.

A metaphor and a foreshadow of the disparities in how climate change will be dealt with in general.

If: 1. While not formalized until the convention, Harris, as his running mate, is de facto a recipient of his '24 primary vote, and 2. If white people ignore this, it's going to be difficult to convince the majority minority rank & file of the Dem party that it isn't a betrayal. Then 3: We lose.
Avatar
Harris is part of a ticket that received 89% of the votes in the primary. She was literally elected to be Biden's successor. I like Whitmer, too, but I really don't see anybody winning Democratic legitimacy by ousting the Black duly elected successor and replacing her with a white person.

Huh. I'm in LA and they're still about that

Where do you live?! I feed leg of lamb every Easter to 30+ people - two legs at 8 pounds each and it's usually about $125.
Avatar
This is... Not my experience. Our local Vons carries lamb chops, leg of lamb, and ground lamb which I'm glad for because I like to eat it?

Keeping Trump out of the White House isn’t the only thing that needs doing and it isn’t enough to solve all problems facing the country & world but if it isn’t done then all those problems get exponentially worse in ways I don’t even know how to express and it scares me when people pretend otherwise
Avatar
Sure, but my main pushback to the worriers is that if you're worried about the Dem and not the Republican, you're doing it wrong. Make the election about Trump, SCOTUS, and P2025 instead.

Biden or whothefuckever, the stakes are too high for me to care which Dem I go all in for in November.
'We'll kill you if you try to stop us' is terrorism.
Avatar
Yeah, I'd have preferred he didn't run again but that wouldn't have helped much except give the Dems a brutal fracturing primary that leaves us where we are now with different names and weaknesses. IDK if Biden is too weakened to win or not, but I really doubt we'd be better off in the alternate.

All of this is to say that if it’s Biden I’m 1000% on board. Harris, same, my dog, same. Don’t care. Not letting perfect be the enemy of stopping our democracy from turn into a monarchy.
Ok what I really need right now is a no-bullshit, non-hysterical breakdown of our options for Dem president candidate this November. No sense in bed wetting or pointing fingers. What is the precedent. I’m sure somebody smarter than me has written the definitive guide so please link me to it, thx 🙏🏻

Yeah. I'll vote for whomever is running and I'll do whatever it takes to get others to do so too regardless.

🎯: “[Trump v. United States] doesn’t change the Constitution any more than a foreign army occupying New England would make Massachusetts no longer part of the United States. That may seem like a jarring analogy. But it’s the only kind that allows us to properly view & react to this Supreme Court.“
