trust is something that must be earned, and as we’ve spent the last 18 months steadily and deliberately destroying yours in us, we no longer find it necessary to even pretend that you should trust us.
i don’t know how else you’re supposed to read that. amongst many other things wrong with this (there’s more over at boers daily), it’s a pretty straightforward assertion that you absolutely shouldn’t trust them, and if they *didn’t* mean that, they’re even worse at comms than they used to be
“Safety of our users is important to us, which is why we won’t do sweet fuck-all about the Nazis openly and habitually threatening everyone who aren’t Nazis with being thrown into camps”
“The safety of our users is important to us… That’s why we protect people who smear child p0$!n on the platform and stalk children! They deserve a platform too!!”
I feel like musk is treated at shitter like he’s treated at the rest of his companies: ignored and everyone just braces for him to show up and get involved
The "Trust" in "Trust and Safety" wasn't about consumers trusting TWITTER, it was about giving users tools like verification and anti-spam that enabled them to make better decisions about what to trust WHEN USING Twitter.
Now that the answer is "don't trust ANYTHING on X..." job done, I guess.
I didn't know that, but it makes sense. You're not "trusting eBay." You're buying things from PEOPLE on eBay, and their job is to give you tools to help establish how trustworthy sellers are.
(Imagine how annoyed buyers would be if scammy sellers could buy a "trusted seller" rating for $8/mo).
NO SERIOUSLY. I TRIED TO FIRE THEM BUT THE FTC PERSON IN CHARGE OF OVERSEEING THE CONSENT DECREE SUDDENLY STARTED CHANTING OMINOUSLY WHILE THEIR EYES BEGAN TO GLOW AND THE SKY DARKENED. I LITERALLY CAN'T DISPENSE WITH THEM.
This feels like that thing where a company department/department head start's randomly changing stuff in a desperate attempt to rebrand, not for the customer's sake, but to win back upper management's attention/mandate from heaven.
Yup! Views Elon doesn't like are heavily censored, mostly indirectly by making them virtually impossible to be seen and the posters are harassed with timeouts, demotions in visibility, and closing of their accounts.
I think I did. He only censors people whose views he disagrees with. As long as they agree with him he may even promote their posts. It's his company, he can do as he likes, but to pretend it doesn't censor, or is anti-censorship, is a lie.
They explicitly ban the accounts of dissidents and activists based on requests from authoritarian governments. I mean, shit, if it was even just Elon booting off Liam Nissan or whatever.
