new york times columnists do not get to tell you what to do. fuck these people, they hope you'll apply to clean their toilets at less than prevailing wage and on a 1099. everyone telling you not to vote for joe biden is doing so because they want to stick their hands in your pockets.

here's the other thing about this: i have no real power to determine this, and neither do you. but i would walk through hell barefoot and back again to vote for a democratic corpse before i'd ever consider a) not voting, or b) voting for donald trump. this matters to me, it should matter to you.

I have no idea the best path re Biden but I do know a solid week straight of “Biden Old” and “Rich Dems Worried” above-the-fold stories are *obscene* in the face of SCOTUS using the Constitution to wipe their asses purely in the service of reinstating a felon rapist as president. Crazy-making shit.

You know, as long as I'm thinking about America, something Biden said in his inauguration speech was when he quoted Augustine defining a people as "a multitude united by the common objects of their love." I think about it to this day. Yeah, that's us.

Democracy is literally *the* thing that a free press is built off of. The defense of democracy should be something that news orgs fiercely champion out of self-interest if nothing else. Its a damning indictment of our what our news media institutions have become that so many have lost sight of that.

After January 6, I said something to the effect that universities should not welcome on campus those who had sought to overturn an election. Its not an especially slippery slope to decide not to platform people opposed to democracy.

if you did not know that the president now has unlimited authority to order the ATF or DHS or the FBI to execute your best friend for any reason and can then order the DOJ not to prosecute then, you can blame every fucking columnist who has written a piece about biden’s age since monday

SCOTUS enabled an imperial presidency that is indistinguishable from a kingship and did so in a way that, if he wins, *will not be undone without buckets of fucking blood* in our lifetime. you’re not hearing about that, but you should, and you should be fucking murderously angry that you aren’t.

I did this in 2017. It comes in super handy.

I recommend taking five to ten minutes to put your US rep, US senators, and state and local elected officials into your phone contacts so you can instantly call them whenever you get mad, which will be every day from now until we die.

There are people out there who are more direct threats, and there are people out there whose behavior I think is worse, but I've got a special contempt for people who look at the broad sweep of American political history and go "yeah, more violence will fix this."
