there's a certain irony that liberals who have spent four years yelling at leftists who criticize Biden at all for any reason have now, in one week, done more damage to Biden's candidacy than all those leftists combined
I think the freakout has been absurd and overblown and far more damaging than the debate itself, which would have been survivable if everyone had been willing to circle the wagons and push back on it I am, from a purely pragmatic standpoint, extremely concerned that the damage cannot be overcome

Now up: my thoughts on Trump v. U.S. In my view the Court majority went much too far in creating a zone of formal and practical presidential immunity from criminal prosecution. "This is not what the Framers wanted. It is not what we should want either." www.cato.org/blog/court-w...

Wasn’t going to wade into discourse on here again yet but let me just say, the jokes and threats (or whatever they are) from U.S. folks of relative privilege about leaving the country give away a lot of how people locate themselves, or rather don’t, in relation to neighbors and community.

With less of a check on presidential criminality than many of us had been counting on, it becomes all the more important not to elect a brazen criminal to the presidency.

/8 At any rate, congratulations to the Federalist Society for an achievement beyond the reach of the British, outside the grasp of bloody civil war, impossible to Nazis and Soviets and terrorists: defeating the American idea.

Serious question, asking not just for myself: Who out there is actually doing serious work on how other branches of govt, states, or the public more broadly can resist SCOTUS arrogation? I think Keith Whittington has written some stuff, right? But who else? Must be some who have?
It's also a bit breathtaking to see the sheer amount of power the Republican judiciary has arrogated to itself this term, all without a single act of Congress

a thing to remember, in all of this horror, is that these are not the actions of a political party that is confident it represents the will of the people, and who is currently out of power and enslaved to a deeply flawed avatar. the struggle is not over and they have not won

NYT: Joe should quit, he stutters Philly Inquirer: Trump is a fucking criminal what the fuck are we doing here
God Bless Paul Davies and the @PhillyInquirer: "The only person who should withdraw from the race is Trump...There was only one person at the debate who does not deserve to be running for president. The sooner Trump exits the stage, the better off the country will be."
To serve his country, Donald Trump should leave the race | Editorial Boardwww.inquirer.com Biden had a horrible night Thursday. But the debate about the debate is misplaced. The only person who should withdraw from the race is Trump.
