It's completely ass backwards. The danger of a president committing crimes as an individual is nothing compared to him using the government for criminal ends. The very things that we should be most concerned about a corrupt president doing are the things he can't be punished for.

In 2016, Hillary Clinton gave a speech in Wisconsin about the importance of the Supreme Court. She warned that 2016 was "make or break" for the court—and the country. National media—focused on her emails and Trump's antics—barely covered the speech. www.thenation.com/article/arch...
Hillary Clinton Just Delivered the Strongest Speech of Her Campaign—and the Media Barely Noticedwww.thenation.com Nothing sums up the high-drama, low-substance nature of 2016 race coverage more than the underplaying of a serious speech about the Supreme Court.

Biden’s appearance should help dispel some concerns about his age, but he needed a stronger message and a concrete call for court reforms

With less of a check on presidential criminality than many of us had been counting on, it becomes all the more important not to elect a brazen criminal to the presidency.

My friend, the son of a man who died while working at Mount Weather in 1960, was expecting more from Sen. Mark Warner. He was asking for a plaque at the site recognizing those who died or who were injured during construction. If you want to support this goal: www.warner.senate.gov/public/index...

I do think Dem strategists fucked up by not having an army of surrogates ready to roll onto the airwaves. No one knows what a criminal conviction of a presidential candidate means. There are no familiar media grooves. The vibes firmament is still warm and malleable and now is the time to hammer it.

Let's talk briefly about "death by coconut". A 1984 paper "Injuries Due to Falling Coconuts" written by Dr. Peter Barss, a surgeon working at a provincial hospital in Papua New Guinea estimated that over a 4 yr period at that hospital, 2.5% of trauma admits were for coconut related injury.

"When Charleston fell, one of the first things those emancipated men and women did was to give the fallen Union [POW's] a proper burial. They exhumed the mass grave and reinterred the bodies in a new cemetery with a tall whitewashed fence inscribed with the words: “Martyrs of the Race Course.” 1/

I mean I guess Biden could just declare that the good behavior clause is self-executing and Alito has removed himself from the bench, and send the senate a nomination for the vacancy

The problem with horse race political coverage isn't the horse race itself, per se. It's the opportunity costs of not covering a million other stories of actual import to the job of being president.
Anyone read anything in the last month about how one of the Presidential candidates stole nuclear secrets, absconded with them to New Jersey and then met with the Saudi government there? Sounds like a big campaign story.
