I took two tax policy classes and this is a central tenant of the tax code. Mortgages- deduction; speeding tickets- no; biz expenses-yes; bribes- no. If they want it they will give a deduction.

Just another opportunity to bang my favorite drum, which is that there are ways to discourage this kind of thing via the tax code. And if you don’t believe me, think how many things are ENCOURAGED via the tax code.
