“They want to eliminate national parks” is a very simple way to get just about anyone on the Stop Project 2025 train. Are there much more glaring and life-threatening goals of P25? Yes but even your most bigoted cousin does not want to see the parks system sold for parts.
This!! Start with “they want to end no fault divorce, sell national parks, and ban porn” end with tax structure.

Again, the angle the reactionary press would _like to_ take against Vice President Harris rhymes with “bigger niche” — which might play well with its core audiences, but might also appall some voters the GOP needs.
Couldn’t even muster a capital letter P for “DEI president” in this poorly-worded, inflammatory, heat-seeking headline.

very hard to figure out what this use of DEI could mean other than the n word
Subtle. Very subtle.

Not everyone has gotten that the piece I wrote below is satire. It is, intended to convey how the media would cover Biden denying connections with his closest aides. But the reality is that when Trump does it, it barely merits a mention. NYT front page is all Biden. Trump's lies not covered.
Trump said “I know nothing about Project 2025. I have no idea who is behind it.” But Project 2025 is run by Trump's closest aides, raising concerns about cognitive fitness for a candidate who seems unable to recall those around him. donmoynihan.substack.com/p/troubling-...

Criticism of Biden on this score is dishonest unless we note that Trump can't get his facts straight (either because he lies intentially or because he can't tell truth from fiction) and that he cannot control his outbursts. Biden is honest and sane, which should count for a lot more than it does.

This is true though. Every day Biden will be a new age that is older than any age he was previously, so reporting on his age will always be breaking news.

In their confirmation hearings, the Republican majority swore under oath that the President was not above the law. This week, they insisted that the President is not just above the law, but is entitled to absolute immunity for his actions. Happy 4th! donmoynihan.substack.com/p/strongman-...

fuck man, I don't even know what to say anymore. One political party wants to burn everything to the ground and institute theocratic, kleptocratic autocracy. I think this is bad, just one man's opinion.

really cannot emphasize enough how plainly all this proves that the first priority of the next Democratic administration needs to be democracy reform --filibuster --electoral college --court reform --dc and pr statehood --new voting rights act --gerrymandering
Avatar
“democrats have to win every election forever” is not a sustainable solution and it is quite literally the one we are facing unless we break the power of this court
The electoral problem has become, as the IRA gloated to Thatcher, that the GOP only needs to get lucky once and the Democrats need to be lucky forever. Either they’re going to do something about the court - now, not eventually - or we will simply play iterations of this game until the GOP wins.

yep. they always think they can save themselves by bolting the party and it literally never works

his lawyer argued as much in front of the court its absurd for Roberts to say that the dissenters are being dramatic when this is the verbatim quote from the defense with regards to using the military to assassinate a political rival

I rolled my eyes when he said years ago that he could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and not lose any support. Now, I know he was right.

I went to bed expecting a 6-3 vote with Alito, Gorsuch and Thomas in the bag for Trump. I figured Roberts, Kavanaugh and Barrett at least wouldn't be unhinged enough to grant a president utter immunity from legal consequences for murdering his political enemies or arresting Congress.
It's hard to even imagine the limits of the power that SCOTUS has just handed the president. If you can keep 34 senators and the military on your side, you can do anything.
Avatar
The 14th Amendment says if you were involved in an insurrection you can't be president. SCOTUS said they won't allow anyone to enforce that because of reasons they made up. The Constitution doesn't say the president is immune from criminal law. SCOTUS decided he is because of reasons they made up.
