There’s a 120 foot long dead tree blocking the channel my parents’ home is on (on Lake Minnetonka) & neither the DNR or the Lake Minnetonka Conservation District can help even with recommendations on who one could hire to remove the tree. So weird. We’re just on our own to figure it out, I guess.

The NYT Parkinson's "scoop" is even worse than it seems from the headline, bc buried in paragraph 11 the reporters *know* Dr. Connard met with someone other than Biden, and on March 28, 2024 the President's Public Schedule shows Biden was in NYC the whole day
Breaking News: A Parkinson’s expert visited the White House eight times in eight months from last summer through this spring, according to official visitor logs. The administration has said that President Biden has no signs of the disease.

Are there viable affordable options for renting a dumpster for a week in south Minneapolis? I feel like it would be awkward AF here on Bryant Avenue S and wonder if hiring people to haul away junk is a better option. I dunno. We have too much stuff & too few spoons to deal with it.

Regular people are going to remember how Trump emboldened the worst people in their families and communities by the time the election rolls around and it's going to be bad for Trump. Four years is just long enough for them to forget, but they'll remember quickly. I've been saying this for years.
i keep seeing videos of people acting shitty in public where a top comment is something like “wonder who they voted for 🙄.” i honestly think a winning message for Dems is just “aren’t you sick of these fucking people”

One major party candidate is more unfit and unsuitable than the other by A LOT, but it is not the one being discussed everywhere and this seems like a problem. (There are so very many problems.)

Just tried Sky Follower Bridge again, to see if it could help me find more folks I followed on the bird app over here. There are extensions for Chrome & for Firefox. Handy! (I no longer follow everyone, instead tend to put people on a list at first.) github.com/kawamataryo/...

Posted a thread on the bad place plugging this place again. What are your favorite guides or tools to share with folks to try to get them here? I mostly just plug what features are now available & point out that lots of folks from there have moved here. (Also may mention bad things re bad place.)

I’m gonna do this and I’m gonna put versions of this song in a thread for as long as I remember to do it (& find fun versions) because we all need a little more joy in our lives. #TMBGBirdhouseThread
I should really listen to some version of “Birdhouse in Your Soul” every day, seems like it would be good for me. (You may also consider this a They Might Be Giants appreciation post. <3 )

look - I'm receptive to both "no, it's gotta be him" arguments and "he's gotta step aside" arguments. not to be wishy-washy but both arguments have merit. "then we do a tourney" is OTOH flatly hilarious. yeah that'll go great. there will much much unity in the wake of the electoral deathmatch
To save democracy, the Democratic party may resort to deploying the greatest concept of all time: a political version of the NBA In-Season Tournament

"Again" implies we ever stopped.
A seasonal wave of #Covid is sweeping across the U.S., driven by the FLiRT variants, a trio of the latest #SARSCoV2 mutants making the rounds. So no, it's not your imagination. People are getting Covid again www.seattletimes.com/nation-world...

A link from someone who is on team "give every good song a full brass section" and I would love folks who are part of that team to share more performances. <3

It is Doc Severinsen’s 97th birthday today, something I didn’t realize when I initially posted a link to the video but maybe that’s what prompted the clip to circulate elsewhere.
A clip from that time They Might Be Giants performed “Birdhouse in Your Soul” on the Tonight Show with Doc & the band is going around the other place & made me realize I somehow missed this performance back then. It is amazing. youtu.be/_zkRjrGmTl4

Both the TMBG post and the comment on Project 2025 post are getting likes and reposts and I’m rooting for the TMBG with Doc and the band clip to be more popular.

I’ve seen posts going around spelling out what the Project 2025 plan is, with the assumption that anyone who sees it will reject it & go against anyone espousing it but I know of far too many evangelicals who’d see it & think it is awesome & become more motivated to vote for people who are for it.
We understand this correct? Project 2025 is not fringe on the right. It's just that everyone in the center and on the left doesn't pay attention to evangelicals cause y'all think they're funny and weird instead of wildly fucking dangerous. Project 2025 is dead serious and extremely popular.

Y'all need to buy @swordsjew.bsky.social new book, which I am referencing here cause I don't think you fully understand the depth and breadth of the evangelical right's depraved, evil agenda and stranglehold on the country. Talia lays it all out. It is *essential* reading for all Americans.
Project 2025 is a creation of Evangelicals and it's the core mission of the evangelical right. It's what major evangelical organizations have been building towards for decades. It's not fringe. (I just fact checked a whole book a out this.)

OK, so this week: - UK Tories wiped out (I know, I know) - Iran votes in a reform PM (I know, I know) - France does this Sometimes, folks, there are glimmers.
JUST IN: Polls closed in France. Exit polls show surprise: —Left coalition (New Popular Front) projected first. (!) —Far-right (RN) has lost its bid to take power. Anti-RN front appears to have worked very well. —No bloc close to majority. Follow this 🧵 for results and more:

The corner of my brother’s bedroom when he was very little had this apple tree. Green paint on wall, fake apples affixed to the wall as well as hanging from the ceiling on fishing line. (Would you believe they found a few of the apples still on fishing line in the house? Of course they did.)
