It appears the Trump campaign is working overtime to paper over the former president's extremist Trump 2.0 plans with a thick layer of moderate-sounding sentences.

My Solomonic view is that NYT—perhaps the president’s primary persecutor recently—showed its whole ass with this swiss-cheese Parkinson’s specialist story. It’s blatantly copied from right-wing charlatans, unvetted. And a nimbler White House and campaign would be making it pay dearly for that.

conservatives think the press is stupid and the press's reaction - a bunch of stories about Trump 'softening' abortion language - confirms that they are correct.

There was lead in EVERY tampon they tested. There was less lead in organic tampons, but those had higher concentrations of arsenic. Also fun: It's 2024. This is the first ever study testing metals in tampons. Great. 🙃 www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/tox... Study: www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

"Wealthy donors threaten to withhold money until Biden ends bid Biden says he doesn’t ‘care what the millionaires think’" not sure if they were trying to hand him this narrative by making their threats to withhold donations so public, but here we are
In the midst of one of the biggest crises ever to strike the Democratic Party, Wall Street’s most influential donors are resigned to watching and waiting like much of the rest of the country

So like, in a sane world, if it really turns out that NYT just did not connect the dots between the Parkinson’s legislation they just passed and these visits, and ran this piece, this week, without that due diligence - that’s gotta be worse than the GWB Air Nat’l Guard stuff that got Rather cooked
This is journalistic malpractice. The Biden admin was working on Parkinson's policy.

knowing that the white house just signed a massive parkinson’s bill in july changes the entire tone of this story so much that this makes it wildly, horrifically offensive
Breaking News: A Parkinson’s expert visited the White House eight times in eight months from last summer through this spring, according to official visitor logs. The administration has said that President Biden has no signs of the disease.

I suppose a thing that gets lost is that a worrying number of apparently adult people conceive of "love" as an emotion one person feels for another and not a state of mutual being. Love is exclusively mutual; whatever attraction or obsession occurs alone may be interesting but it is not love.

What this article leaves out is that if you hand your unlocked phone to a police officer, they can legally search it. Unless companies develop a method that allows you to show officers insurance cards and driver license without unlocking the rest of your phone, don't. www.zdnet.com/article/digi...

Ed is absolutely correct about this, and “time to shit or get off the pot” is exactly the phrase I have been using in offline discussions about this
The worst outcome for the Democratic Party at this point is not sticking with Biden, nor switching to Harris. It's dragging out this debate for three months. Time is a factor and no decision they make can do as much damage as indecision.

Well, well, well. WELL. That whole “protests made cops feel bad so they all quit” narrative? Looks like it was mostly myth. Excited to read this paper by Ben Grunwald, who compiled a huge dataset on post-2020 police employment. Agg decline was 1%… and bigger local declines not tied to protests.

How does blowing up a children’s hospital in Ukraine—which isn’t in NATO—protect Russia from NATO? How is killing a bunch of kids who were far from military activity about security, not brutal aggression? Do Putin defenders and apologists who ape the NATO excuse hear themselves?

The far right cope machine is already trying to manufacture a narrative about the massive loss the French fascists faced today. They are scared they can sense what’s coming to America and it’s not fascism. Popular fronts win and scare fascists. Keep them on the back foot they are weak and scared.
