“They want to eliminate national parks” is a very simple way to get just about anyone on the Stop Project 2025 train. Are there much more glaring and life-threatening goals of P25? Yes but even your most bigoted cousin does not want to see the parks system sold for parts.
We all know this guy is out to ratfuck this election but FFS why is the media giving him the time of day, when there is project 2025 just hanging out there in the world.
And yet no one is "hammering" Trump saying the doesn't know who's associated with Project 2025. CNN could just as easily run that or 1,000 other stories about Trump's cognitive decline.
Which do you think persuades unengaged people more : a unified message of “he’s competent and has been a great president; the Times prefers Trump because he gave them more access” or the circular firing squad?
Gee, I wonder how things would be different if in those five minutes, low-information voters saw Democrats highlighting the many, many, many examples of Trump's severe mental incompetence instead of demanding that Biden withdraw.
There's a world on the other side of this with a huge, vibrant, unionized and high-paying industrial base remaking the physical world for the post-fossil fuel age. It's already starting and I think even Trump can't *fully* destroy it, but he can slow it down and make us lag wayyy behind.
I could not give less of a shit about Biden or his mental abilities, but I do care about winning, and I am not sold that ditching him improves our odds of winning
If you're so concerned about the stakes of this election you could just... spend the next four months writing about the stakes of this election. A constant drip of articles calling the Democratic nominee unfit is also not a great strategy for winning!
This is almost word for word what I tell students.
Even if you’ve been disillusioned by what’s happening at the state and federal level, you need to get out and shore up your local politics.
It's not going to come down to a president or red states or blue states.
It's going to come down to electing mayors and city council members that are brave enough to say "you're going to need to send in the National Guard if you want that shit enforced here."
This is why we vote.
The MAGA movement will not be shamed by pointing out the basic features of a liberal pluralist democracy. They don't believe in any of it. They see it as a weakness, something that merely holds them back or slows their efforts to reshape their world.
Today, the federal government put itself on the right side of history by seeking, for the 1st time, to establish the precedent that every worker in America has the right to shade, water & rest while working in temps that could kill them. -UFW President Teresa Romero

This is one reason I like big streamers is you don’t ever get nearly as depressing tangles on 1x or some heavy mono for salt, like you do with a dry fly on 5x
One thing I think people forget is how relentlessly *stupid* every day of the Trump administration was. He doesn’t need to do a big elaborate complicated conspiracy, he can just (e.g.) email a list of every U.S. agent in the field to Putin and say it’s to own the libs, and *that* will have immunity.
Just a cat, occasionally talking to the ghosts to explain that no the humans would not get your jokes because your material is from 1854 and it’s incredibly racist.
