like, you have to pick a lane here, because i don't think that we typically associate people suffering dementia and a head cold with sticking *too* closely to the list of facts, stats and figures they have spent the previous days memorizing in order to rattle them off in a 2m response window
what drives me up the wall is that the very thing that hobbled him in the first 15 of the debate — trying to cram in a ton of facts and figures and references that he clearly committed to memory over the previous few days — is a thing that people who actually have dementia normally can't do well.

Biden displays pretty obvious signs of normal aging, and my biggest takeaway from the past week and a half of discourse is that a lot of people will strongarming the family doctor for a fraudulent diagnosis to get a chunk of the estate early.
Maybe people just don’t know what dementia is? When the Dalai Lama did something gross and shocking in full on public, seemingly oblivious to the judgment of others — after which we basically never saw him again — I thought that sounded like actual dementia, but people insisted no!

These people do not believe in democracy. If they lose, it can only be because if fraud, not because they are the type of weirdos who deny election outcomes whenever they lose.

It's depressing and infuriating how long we've had to pretend that Bibi is some sort of Great Man of History, rather than an obvious criminal whose every move is determined entirely by his short-term interests, with zero regard for anyone else on Earth.

There ain’t gonna be a blitz primary. The biggest evidence this will all blow over is the biggest proponents seem to think they’re writing a prestige drama and not planning for another candidate.

there are many reasons we need to win in the fall, but one of them is that i simply am not going to abide by letting both the brits and the french lecture us

Turns out that when it comes down to it, a lot of people will answer the question of “do you want to let the fascists take power” with a “no, actually I don’t.”

Seeing some people being like “If Biden chooses to resist our efforts to oust him, he’ll tear down the party and he’ll be to blame for the consequences” and no, I’m pretty sure that you would also be to blame for the consequences

bad luck for biden to run in an electoral cycle where "are you old" is the most important issue instead of in one of the cycles where email security procedures or accuracy of vietnam war medal citations was the most important issue in the country.

The thing that's obvious to everyone and that nobody can actually write in the press is that the American (and yes, I'm sure elsewhere too) right wing is led by bad people and the object is to make more people extremely bad in basically every respect. It's anti-society

The only way to force Biden out is to have the votes, and that would be insane because Republicans won’t seat a vice president and not having a tie breaker in the Senate stops the judicial appointment train through the election.

It's genuinely helpful that the press has successfully signalled that they will not treat Kamala Harris generously or fairly if Biden steps aside for her. Clarifying!

this is consistent with my general sense that many of the justices really, really don't understand both how much they are disliked by an increasingly fervent and expansive segment of population, and the extent to which those people are now paying attention in a way they weren't before

I really don’t think most people realize just how hard the boot will come down if Trump and the Republicans win the election. Most people have never experienced the totalitarian surveillance state with the power to reach into their homes and minds at will they are telling us is their plan.

I genuinely wonder right now whether enthusiasm is the wrong word to be using. Like republicans have enthusiasm about Trump that democrats don’t have about Biden, but non-republicans have grim determination about Trump. Just one of those things I wonder about whether polls are capturing.
Yes. Lots of advantages there. The number that worries me more than favorability tho (which is the big one that's usually quoted) is "enthusiasm to vote" numbers, where Ds consistently poll below Rs

They are officially worried about Project 2025 and freaked out about what happens if they get anchor to their fascist game plan
Stephen Miller now following Trump's lead and saying he has nothing to do with Project 2025. 1. His organization is on the Project 2025 advisory board. 2. He recorded a video as part of Project 2025 training tools 3. You can see Mandate for Leadership, the Project 2025 publication in the background

Kinda fun that even wannabe Lex Luthor here is starting to wonder if they got out over their skis with the whole "Everyone loves racism now" theory.
