Hey guys, long time first time, this is more of a comment than a question, but it’s also like a two part comment: Fuck you, and also, fuck you.

Wait just a second here. Are you saying that the President and/or his administration consulted with actual experts before doing something? He didn't just hold a press conference and suggest injecting bleach or sticking a light bulb up your ass to cure Parkinson's? Seems crazy.

NYT's behavior is consistent with them having an agenda it's also consistent with them thinking they have something, but it's not consistent with them having the goods.

Every big media organization was so crossed-up by Trump winning in 2016 that they have been behaving and hiring as if Long Island-Coded Suburbo-Racist Sociopathy was on an unstoppable ascent worldwide, and interpreting everything backwards from there. It turns out most people actually hate it!
Honestly, what kind of bananas frame this story like this? Is shit serious or not, fucken freaks?

What is clear to me is that a cease fire is not enough - without immediate relief efforts (rehabilitation and reconstruction - not just food aid) - the number of deaths would be, without doubt, in the hundreds of thousands. 5/

Given that direct casualties (reported and missing persons) are around 50k, the estimate of 186k deaths is certainly not possible, but it could well be higher; and it could be lower. I see no evidence-based reasoning to quote that number in particular. 4/

God I hate this shit. You're LIVING in the United States, you assholes. You don't get to decide that it's the finale. It's YOUR job to see that it isn't. It's all of our job. Save your plausibly deniable ironic defeatism for your group chat.

The Expendables, but instead of action heroes, it's all aging romcom stars. They still kill a bunch of people, though.

Stephen Miller now following Trump's lead and saying he has nothing to do with Project 2025. 1. His organization is on the Project 2025 advisory board. 2. He recorded a video as part of Project 2025 training tools 3. You can see Mandate for Leadership, the Project 2025 publication in the background

Whether Biden drops out or continues, I expect a primary target of foreign info operations this year to be the legitimacy of the Democratic candidate and the legimitacy of the courts in relation to the the GOP candidate. Expect them to target audiences on both sides and exploit organic criticism.

I fully believe that this media-led panic over Biden's fitness for office will simply shift over to Harris ... and there will be an equally frenzied media-led panic over *her* fitness & preparedness for office.

what you want isn’t Nominee Harris. it’s a comfortable lead over Trump. the evidence that switching to Harris will produce that comfortable lead is nonexistent. so reassure me that you’re not going to continue filling your drawers if you get what you say you want.

This is unserious. Why don’t we talk about how the media selectively edits Trump quotes and refuses to talk about all the speeches and rallies Biden has done since the debate. The narrative apparently can’t fail
Democratic Party electeds and operatives are freaking out because they watched the first debate along with 50 million Americans and saw a man with obvious signs of cognitive decline. Biden’s arrogant and slow response, along with the terrible polling, has made things worse since.

So to confirm, now we have near-final numbers: Every time 19 Tory MPs get a bit grumpy this parliament and stick their letters into the 1922 Committee... ...it'll automatically trigger a leadership contest.
Worth remembering, for the next five years, that the Tory party rules ASSUME they'll have a large number of sitting MPs. e.g. to automatically start a leadership context only 15% of tory MPs have to put in letters. 15% of 130ish seats is... not a lot.

The other thing is that it’s so lawless a decision that it cannot be respected as precedent. It feels like a Supreme Court that succeeds this one should ignore its rule against advisory opinions to immediately overturn this one without waiting for a case to come up to do it.
fundamentally being in the majority on Trump v US is immediately disqualifying for a supreme court justice. it declares yourself in opposition to the foundations of the American project of democracy and limited government. all six of them must be impeached and replaced.

New Yorker wants Joe Biden, whose admin has had historical success, to resign bc he's not doing well at running for re-election. This is not, in fact, what the 25th Amendment was made for.

Absoltuely zero tolerance for doomers today. Reform vote was a protest vote after the most catastrophic few years for the country, but it's a dysfunctional "party" and will remain marginal. Meanwhile as many far right MPs (Mogg, Galloway, Truss, Baker) are out as Reform gains. Labour might have

there’s somewhere between 15 and 20% of the likely electorate that is out there up for grabs. they really deeply dislike Trump and they moderately dislike Biden. they are probably not going to vote 3rd party but they probably will vote.
