“They want to eliminate national parks” is a very simple way to get just about anyone on the Stop Project 2025 train. Are there much more glaring and life-threatening goals of P25? Yes but even your most bigoted cousin does not want to see the parks system sold for parts.
This!! Start with “they want to end no fault divorce, sell national parks, and ban porn” end with tax structure.

"The preliminary results upended widespread predictions of a clear victory for the National Rally," says the NYT just now. Wait, who made these predictions of a massive victory for the National Rally again? Oh yeah, these guys did:

The far right cope machine is already trying to manufacture a narrative about the massive loss the French fascists faced today. They are scared they can sense what’s coming to America and it’s not fascism. Popular fronts win and scare fascists. Keep them on the back foot they are weak and scared.

Lot of questions about why Macron called snap elections. One clear factor: By ordering speed campaign, he expected Left could not unite, & so they'd be knocked out in Round 1, helping his own party. Instead, Left united within days—& now surged to win biggest bloc in Assembly.

Long elections waste immense amounts of money. they harass potential voters into apathy. They play into the horse-race, scandal-fed view of politics that feeds deeply unserious media coverage. They NOT INCIDENTALLY make it difficult/impossible for campaigns to deal with last-minute surprises.
note how long it took the French from calling the election to holding not 1 but 2 votes? and organizing the shit out of the second one? LESS THAN ONE MONTH A national election does not have to be a painful 1.5-2 year process! the US election campaign should quite honestly not even have started yet!!

These people do not believe in democracy. If they lose, it can only be because if fraud, not because they are the type of weirdos who deny election outcomes whenever they lose.

The opting out is especially wild Like, Republican governors are being actively presented with money to feed kids and affirmatively saying 'I would like children to starve actually' (Also, if I'm a Dem campaigner, I'm making some ads and placing some op eds about this immediately)
The governors of a dozen Republican-led states — AL, AK, FL, GA, IA, MS, OK, SC, SD, TX, UT, WY — opted out of a new federal food assistance program, leaving about 9.5 million students without the aid this summer

It's depressing and infuriating how long we've had to pretend that Bibi is some sort of Great Man of History, rather than an obvious criminal whose every move is determined entirely by his short-term interests, with zero regard for anyone else on Earth.

When you find common ground with people with whom you agree some of the time but not all of the time, you can prevent people with whom you agree none of the time from taking power. The left and the center have far more in common than either wants to admit.

To be clear: a coalition of the Left — the socialists — and the Greens were able to block the far Right in France. And there is a lesson here for the US: voters across the West want the neoliberal experiment to end. We CAN and we MUST end it to save the future & improve people's wellbeing to boot!
Well France apparently just collabed between everyone else to kick a far right party out of the chance to take power, it can be done if enough people want it to be, folks

I can already tell the MSM is going to let Republicans and Trump skate away from Project 2025 as if they weren’t involved in crafting it and aren’t going to start implementing it on day one . We will have to win this election with MSM working against America yet again. #uspoli #rant#uspoli #rant

Matt Pottinger was long considered one of the “serious” “adults” in the higher ranks of the Trump administration and had credibility among some of the elite press due to his history as a well respected foreign or war correspondent, but holy shit fuck that smug asshole.
Dunno why I just rewatched it but the dual testimony before the Jan 6 committee of former Trump staff Sarah Matthews & Matt Pottinger is jarring, in that all of Sarah’s testimony makes you think she genuinely felt bad about the riot while it is clear Matt’s takeaway was this looks bad on my resume

I want to explain how Project 2025 is essential to the Trump campaign and the only way to understand it. But first, let's do something the press refuses to do in 2024: Take Trump's threats seriously. Think about the core message of his first post-1/6 rally, delivered deliberately in Waco, Texas.
