There is no magic bullet to getting people employed with stable living wages. At least not while we're letting CEOs hoard all the wealth everyone else's jobs create.

Yep. Most people I know in the manual trades have very busy seasons and then go without work for months. I did jewelry and metalsmithing, a skilled but seated trade and even I'm not able to do the work that I used to after 20 years. Trades are so vital, but they aren't for everyone.

This is exactly why I try to openly recommend new books/comics and boost fellow authors and artists as often as I can. The algorithm won’t help us share our own stories. So we must help share each other’s stories instead, and raise that tide for all of us.

We’ve returned to the olden days, when word-of-mouth was the only real way to advertise. As an author, if you enjoy a book, please: tell your friends. Your group chat, your sewing circle, your family WhatsApp, your work Slack, the voice channel of your MMORPG guild, anything.

This. I keep seeing "anybody who doesn't get has brain damage or isn't paying attention" and as someone with brain damage let me say: correct, most people AREN'T paying attention. Not closely. And they specifically tune out whatever sounds ridiculous, which helps these GOP positions go unnoticed.

“They want to eliminate national parks” is a very simple way to get just about anyone on the Stop Project 2025 train. Are there much more glaring and life-threatening goals of P25? Yes but even your most bigoted cousin does not want to see the parks system sold for parts.
