It's only been seven days since the Supreme Court created an imperial presidency and no one's talking about it.

He signed a bill addressing Parkinson's literally yesterday. Give me your job
Breaking News: A Parkinson’s expert visited the White House eight times in eight months from last summer through this spring, according to official visitor logs. The administration has said that President Biden has no signs of the disease.

i keep seeing videos of people acting shitty in public where a top comment is something like “wonder who they voted for 🙄.” i honestly think a winning message for Dems is just “aren’t you sick of these fucking people”

This is journalistic malpractice. The Biden admin was working on Parkinson's policy.

I’m truly hoping that everyone will take a breath and say yeah, Joe’s old, yeah he he’s lost a step from 3 1/2 years ago, BUT! That doesn’t mean he’s not STILL the best choice!

Well, well, well. WELL. That whole “protests made cops feel bad so they all quit” narrative? Looks like it was mostly myth. Excited to read this paper by Ben Grunwald, who compiled a huge dataset on post-2020 police employment. Agg decline was 1%… and bigger local declines not tied to protests.

NYT says their performance on Threads today was an aberration, & not indicative of deeper problems they've had with social media. Unfortunately, that hasn't satisfied many observers whose concerns are growing louder. The stakes are too high. For the good of the news, the Times should step aside

We watched a grieving father with a known stutter and a head cold have his dead son denigrated to his face. Then we still expected him to have a pristine debate performance, and are trying to punish him because he did not. I have lost a son. Let me be very clear.

And arguably what I am enjoying most is that this is not the hero theory of history. We’re not seeing a charismatic leader carry the election through rhetoric and force of personality. We’re seeing populations say: nope. I like the power of nope.

The opting out is especially wild Like, Republican governors are being actively presented with money to feed kids and affirmatively saying 'I would like children to starve actually' (Also, if I'm a Dem campaigner, I'm making some ads and placing some op eds about this immediately)
The governors of a dozen Republican-led states — AL, AK, FL, GA, IA, MS, OK, SC, SD, TX, UT, WY — opted out of a new federal food assistance program, leaving about 9.5 million students without the aid this summer

They’re already doing the birtherism again. Lol
If they do put Kamala Harris on the top of the ticket, I am prepared for a level of misogynoir unwitnessed since Rosa Parks sat down on that bus.

Adam Schiff states, with zero evidence, that Biden should be wiping the floor with Trump, because DJT is a criminal. Not understood (or willfully misunderstood) by Schiff: when a cult has a savior, every thorn in the savior's side makes the cult go harder.

I feel like the trick with Project 2025 is exactly the same as the WGA strike. little snippet screencaps going viral all over normie social media that make some shocking thing you had no idea about instantly digestible to anyone regardless of their information level or background

this is like how zero pundits saw the 2022 midterms coming even though there were several special elections before it where the democratic candidate won massively when polls said the opposite. lots of smart people said "yeah uh, polls are really bad". but pundits can't learn new concepts.
it's worth noting, perhaps, that a lot of the "french elections defy predictions!" coverage is written by people/outlets who made the predictions

Been thinking a lot about the famous William Goldman quote about Hollywood and what makes a hit movie: “Nobody knows anything.” Don’t trust anyone who pretends to know what will happen if Biden stays in or if he withdraws.
A lot of folks who supposedly analyze politics for a living are just like…not good at it?

This entire election has been in uncharted territory since January 6, 2021, and a whole lot of people who are handsomely paid to report on and explain elections are making a big public spectacle of being staggered by how they've just started to figure that out

bad luck for biden to run in an electoral cycle where "are you old" is the most important issue instead of in one of the cycles where email security procedures or accuracy of vietnam war medal citations was the most important issue in the country.

I think this would be very relevant if Biden's opponent were someone like Tim Scott. I would be much more concerned if he were going up against a relatively blank slate the country could project its hopes onto. But his opponent is an ex-president with his own extremely high negatives.

For 10/7, @nytimes.com Politics vertical has 4 stories on Biden, all on stay/go. They run 1 on Trump directly on his VP search setting up candidates for '28. 2 other related stories: JD Vance urging Trump to prosecute Biden, and Rubio loving Trump's immunity. This is journalistic malpractice. 1/

🤷🏼‍♂️ I actually do like asking MAGAts if they think convicted felons should be able to vote (they ALWAYS say "no") and then sucker-punch them with the "Then should a convicted felon allowed to be President?" follow-up. It's entertaining as hell. You should try it. Five stars on Yelp. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
