Somewhere in the space that 142 "Biden yeah or nah" stories took up at the NYT, they coulda covered a few things like a multi-state GOP effort to boost child *malnutrition*.

The perception of an inevitable fascist victory in Europe is largely just the wishcasting of mainstream media publications saying that fascist victory is inevitable. See how the BBC spins National Rally's loss.

there are many reasons we need to win in the fall, but one of them is that i simply am not going to abide by letting both the brits and the french lecture us

"The preliminary results upended widespread predictions of a clear victory for the National Rally," says the NYT just now. Wait, who made these predictions of a massive victory for the National Rally again? Oh yeah, these guys did:

Show this to everyone who’s like “But THEY don’t belong in my Eurofantasy construct!!1!” African red-slip pottery was excavated from medieval digs in Europe decades ago. Now we have more evidence of even broader trade networks. Our species likes hanging out with new people and trying new things.

Analysis by Dan Balz: A week after his disastrous debate performance and amid rising doubts inside his party about his capacity to defeat Donald Trump in November, Biden has adopted a one-word strategy to keep his candidacy alive: defiance.
Analysis | Biden meets his critics with defiance. But they see him in denial.wapo.st In the week since his disastrous debate, President Biden has been grimly determined to stay in the race, but has he done enough to turn the tide of dissent in his party?

Joe Biden has done 9 public events and counting since last Thursday. The Stephanopoulos interview will be 10. At a certain point the “gotta get Biden out there” ppl are just telling us that they aren’t looking and aren’t interested in looking.
Shotting because I'm already arguing with him in another thread, but honest to God the campaign hasn't "put Biden out there"?

You can have concerns about Biden's age, but still be absolutely appalled about editorial choices that convey the issue as more important than the Supreme Court offering a pre-emptive thumbs up to a criminal presidency
I have been saying since February that major media are 100% devoted to But Her Emails 2, but I didnt imagine it would get this bad. The day after SCOTUS stops the law applying to Trump, we have to scroll thru 4 fucking top stories on “Biden old” & an ad before getting to anything on SCOTUS decision

Sigh. TO TRUMP. TRUMP OF ALL PEOPLE.
Leaked internal polling from the Democratic Party shows Biden has lost 2% of voters in swing states since the debate. He’s running behind Harris and Whitmer in head to heads vs Trump in virtually all swing states. t.co/N7XaZ3Xpnv

On Biden.
he campaigned on having the experience and decorum necessary to do the job and implied he'd bring back the Obama era! I hated it but like, for the average voter, he was the safest, most assured, most-opposite-Trump choice.

I don't actually think the DNC is all that responsible for Clinton or Biden being the nominee. Primary voters genuinely thought they were the strongest candidate to beat Trump!
I don’t know if we should be looking at this from a “luck” standpoint. There were, and are, plenty of candidates that would crush Trump. These are DNC decisions that are…questionable at best being generous to them.

March 23 1933, the Enabling Act becomes law in Germany, giving the chief executive power enforce his own laws without checks and balances. The passing of the Act marked the formal transition from democratic republic to totalitarian dictatorship. 6 months later, it was a 1 party state.

The thing I can't stop thinking about is this: I'm 48, and in my adult lifetime there has been one Republican who won the popular vote. But I will probably spend the rest of my life under the authority of a Supreme Court dominated by hard right conservatives. How is that democracy?

I'm a hard-eyed realist about electoral politics, that's why I'm advising the Democrats to shove aside the elected vice president and replace her with someone who'd vacate a purple- or red-state Senate seat

Literally every day since 2015 the top story could and most days should have been "The Republican Party in crisis: this guy is now their standard bearer??" But only the Dems ever get that kind of treatment.
