I’m reminded of the first 2012 debate where if you read Romney’s answers he is absolute shit, but all the press talked about was how “tired” the President of the United States seemed compared to a retired multimillionaire. Huh.

Trump's debate performance was awful because he lied constantly. Biden's debate performance was awful because he seemed tired and stumbled a lot. A problem Biden has is that a large portion of the public and media has showed they care more about presentation than facts.

If we want Trump’s 34 felony convictions to matter in this election, we have to tell voters loudly and repeatedly that it *should* matter in this election. Trump was charged with cheating in order to win the first time. That’s a big fucking deal.

I'll add just this: The feeling that the fascist leader is inevitable is a phantasm that they all prop up, in order to cow their opposition. You can't fight "inevitable." We don't have to prop up the myth. Trump isn't inevitable. He lost in 2020. He loses every time he stands trial.

I count six negotiated settlements of encampments so far. All of them (I think) commit the university to followup in the fall. Students win, admin wins, everyone gets to take the summer off before resuming.

WKCR reporting that 60-70 arrested last night are still awaiting arraignment, might be at night court (6p-1a) but otherwise would have to wait until tomorrow am. a WKCR reporter is there and will be all night. not great also that "it seems like very few" people have been released thru the day.

From my South Dakota colleagues--a faculty member at the USD is being threatened with termination if they don't remove their pronouns and tribal affiliation from their email signature. The Board of Regents previously passed rigid guidelines on what an email signature may contain.

NYPD is currently pulling students off the ground ("quite violently, I might add" the reporter says) into Corrections vans, per WKCR

Wow— WCKR points out that the administration has STILL not made ANY communications directly to students about these arrests, and there was no warning of the police invasion

The NYPD is forcing journalists to leave the area where they are breaking up the Columbia protest and making arrests.

I just want to say that in 1993 I was part of a group of students who took over Wesleyan's administration building WHILE EVERYONE WAS STILL AT WORK IN IT to save need-blind admissions and I don't think anyone who showed up even had a pistol. This is the opposite of inevitable.
