No rules or laws were broken in France, by the way. Nothing says you can't drop out of the race, nothing says you can't make agreements with an opponent to make sure the stronger of you beats the fascists and the weaker walks away. It's "cheating" when they don't get their way. That's all.

This. I keep seeing "anybody who doesn't get has brain damage or isn't paying attention" and as someone with brain damage let me say: correct, most people AREN'T paying attention. Not closely. And they specifically tune out whatever sounds ridiculous, which helps these GOP positions go unnoticed.

I canceled my subscription to WaPo a few years back because they did a very similar puff piece– it was about a ranch in TX that is a "home" for single pregnant women (and I am using "women" specifically here for a reason). What it actually is is a Christian work camp.

Either the NY Times has staff reporters that can't recognize white supremacist shit unless it literally comes with swastikas, or they see a purpose in puff pieces about white supremacists. Neither reflects well on them.
