If you’ve never seen Dorothea Lange’s photographs of the World War II internment camps and the Japanese-Americans who were imprisoned there, today is a good day to see them and to commit to making sure this never happens again. anchoreditions.com/blog/dorothe...

Four months ago, the Economist thought the country was being run pretty well.
IMO this is a straight-up ageist and ableist image, no?

Isn't it interesting that they're trying to frame themselves as initiating *that* war instead of the Civil War? Wannabe Confederates still don't like being called what they are. Probably because it reminds them they lost the first time.

If Biden did drop out they chose the person who got the second highest number of votes in the Dem primary process, who would that be? No one of any note ran, right?

Calling Kathy Hochul
As well-meaning publishers try to navigate the coming storm of state laws against diversity, I hope they'll consider Timothy Snyder's Rule #1 (from his slim book ON TYRANNY).

And twenty years after Columbine, aren’t we all traumatized? I hate fireworks and hate playing the “is that gunshots or kids with explosive crap they bought in NH” game at 10 pm
What does it say about our society that "Think of the poor doggos!" is a more effective PSA against setting off fireworks in residential areas than "You have actual human neighbors you see every day with severe mental health issues who you are giving trauma responses"

I never see the point of asking for small changes. They’ll chip away at your dream no matter what. Start big. You never know.
i'm not convinced that asking for big changes is unrealistic we've been asking for slightly hire wages and slightly lower rents, and it's not getting better, it's getting worse what if demanding big changes is the more realistic way to make things better?

A decade of millennials learning to download an app instead of learning their local bus routes is going to bite us when their kids grow up
Just got an ad that was like "tired of shuttling your kids to all their friends' houses and extracurriculars? Try Uber for Teens!" and hear me out but what if we just had good public transit instead

my pitch to undecided voters: extremely old and weary Joe Brandon seeing the promised land (country where you don't have to hear about Donald Trump every day) even though he won't live long enough to get there himself:

God Bless Paul Davies and the @PhillyInquirer: "The only person who should withdraw from the race is Trump...There was only one person at the debate who does not deserve to be running for president. The sooner Trump exits the stage, the better off the country will be."
To serve his country, Donald Trump should leave the race | Editorial Boardwww.inquirer.com Biden had a horrible night Thursday. But the debate about the debate is misplaced. The only person who should withdraw from the race is Trump.

I keep on thinking about how John Roberts messed up nitrogen oxide with nitrous oxide in a ruling on how the courts were better suited to provide expertise than experts.

let me get this straight, the NYT editorial board is *not* calling on the convicted felon to step down from the race? Just so I'm sure

I grew up in a state that was a laughingstock for its river catching on fire and it’s wild the Supreme Court just wielded its might power to bring those days back to us all.

It’s important to note that the opinion page is often not written by “journalists” who go out and do the hard work of interviewing many people and chasing down sources.
real travesty that so many incredibly smart, knowledgeable journalists have been forced to leave the industry entirely, while a small contingent of gibbering Ivy League chucklefucks get paid tons of money by legacy media to translate their own farts into the written word

Long after the debate is forgotten, the 6-3 decisions overruling Chevron via Loper Bright and Jarksey will have fundamentally weakened the ability of the American government to function against the most powerful interests in society.

Deny people homes, arrest them for sleeping outside because they have no home. Trump can’t wait to get into office with his court drooling to remake America into a despotic hellhole for the rich

In any sane world this would be much bigger news than last night's debate.
